Join ACOEP for an exciting and educational experience at BAYOU WAR, a 5K Wilderness Race & Emergency Preparedness Challenge! Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Black Bayou, this unique event is more than just a run—it's a chance to learn critical life-saving skills while enjoying the great outdoors.
As you make your way through the scenic 5K trail, you'll encounter six emergency preparedness stations where you'll be challenged to respond to real-life scenarios. Each station focuses on vital skills that could make a difference in an emergency situation:
Anaphylaxis Station – Learn how to recognize the signs of a severe allergic reaction and how to properly administer an epinephrine auto-injector.
Poisonous Ingestion Station – Understand how to assess and respond to cases of accidental ingestion of harmful substances.
Mass Triage Station – Discover how to prioritize and manage multiple casualties using triage techniques during mass emergency situations.
Stop the Bleed Station – Gain hands-on experience in controlling severe bleeding through the use of tourniquets and wound packing.
Bone Splinting Station – Practice proper splinting techniques for fractures and broken bones in a wilderness setting.
Water Rescue Station – Learn essential water safety and rescue methods for saving someone from drowning.
