Happy 10 years to us! While it hasn’t always been sunshine and rainbows (looking at you pandemic 😷), owning & running MaMere’s Guest House has been one of life’s great adventures.

It gives some of us a home & our apprentice innkeepers basically their 2nd home. It gives us a sense of purpose and connects us with our community. It introduced us to new friends (and neighborhood 🐈‍⬛). Sure, it has also challenged us at times. But, ultimately, it has provided us exactly what we needed as a family, when we needed it most. And for that we are eternally grateful!

Thank you for continuing to support us! For recommending us to friends or staying here yourself. We aren’t sure what things will look like 10 years from now. But we know, no matter what, the Historic Howell House will live on and continue to stand tall in downtown Monmouth. And, for now, we look forward to continuing to be a part of its incredible life story and taking care of this amazing historic house. 💙

So come visit us! We will leave the light on for you.

We will be open for tours from 6-8pm TONIGHT for Monmouth’s History & Mystery event! Storytellers and vendors will be in Main Street Park and New Horizons Orchestra will be performing at 6pm at City Hall. Hope we see you there!

W. J. Mulkey Jr. (Not initials, that was his actual name; alias “Dubs”) was Monmouth’s Deputy Marshal/Constable on night duty. Mulkey, who had been on the job two years, got action early in 1926, when he made a two a.m. arrest of George Washington Duke of Portland, discovered with twenty-one gallons of moonshine in his sedan...

Want to hear more? Come downtown the evening of October 9th, 6:00 - 8:00pm for a night of History and Mystery! Step back 100 years in time to Monmouth in the 1920s and hear a concert of moody orchestral pieces from New Horizons Orchestra on Civic Plaza (in front of City Hall) followed by costumed storytellers bringing Monmouth's History to life. Meanwhile, tour the Historic Howell House operating as MaMere's Guest House & Event Center today and shop some local craft vendors. Event Maps and children’s crafts are available under the sequoias in Main St. Park.

Our sister city of Independence is a great place to spend a September Saturday! Enjoy not one, but two farmers markets, shop at a plethora of locally owned businesses, walk along the Willamette River, and enjoy a tasty treat - options include ice cream, coffee, sandwiches, smoothies, pizza, b**r and more! We recommend hopping on the trolly just a block from MaMere’s Guest House & Event Venue and riding it to downtown Independence for a fun experience!
