FOUNDED IN 2011, SOUTHSOUNDS MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL IS THE FIRST FESTIVAL IN THE COUNTRY DEDICATED TO SHOWCASING THE BEST NEW SOUTHERN MUSIC AND ART. SOUTHSOUNDS IS HELD ANNUALLY ON THE SECOND WEEKEND IN APRIL IN VARIOUS MUSI

C VENUES AND ON OUTDOOR PUBLIC STAGES THROUGHOUT DOWNTOWN MOBILE, ALABAMA. SOUTHSOUNDS BROUGHT AN ESTIMATED 4,000+ PEOPLE INTO DOWNTOWN MOBILE TO WATCH OVER 65 SHOWS. MUSICAL ARTISTS SPANNED AN ARRAY OF MUSICAL GENRES (INCLUDING AMERICANA, INDIE, COUNTRY, BLUEGRASS, ROCK, ALTERNATIVE, METAL, SOUL, FUNK, BLUES, R&B AND HIP-HOP) AND CAME FROM THROUGHOUT THE SOUTHEAST, WITH AT LEAST 9 DIFFERENT STATES BEING REPRESENTED. SOUTHSOUNDS WON THE LAGNIAPPE WEEKLY “NAPPIE AWARD” FOR “BEST LOCAL MUSIC FESTIVAL,” AND WAS NAMED BY CHARLESTON CITY PAPER AS “A SOUTHERN MUSIC FESTIVAL WORTH THE ROAD TRIP.”

Recommendations are needed for rising Gulf Coast musicians and bands to play the SouthSounds Showcase in the heart of Dauphin Street at Son Of A Sailor Fest on September 20th, thanks to our parent organization SouthSounds Music Festival !

Jimmy Buffett cut his teeth performing in downtown Mobile and busking on Bourbon Street just as emerging musicians do today, and we want promote that next generation of Gulf Coast music. Please comment your recommendations below and share!

Greetings SouthSounds Supporters!

You may not be aware that SouthSounds is not just a single festival but it is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to promoting local and regional musicians.

As such, we are proud to partner with the new Son of a Sailor Festival on September 21st in Downtown Mobile.

Jimmy Buffett was the stereotypical Mobile musician of the past who was not recognized in his hometown and had to leave the area to be appreciated. We want to make sure that never happens again.

The Festival will not only be a tribute to Mr. Buffett's music but will also include new local and regional musicians in the SouthSounds vein.
