The original home of the Minot Public Library, the Carnegie Center was built in 1911, funded by Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. Designed by Minot architects Woodruff & McGulpin in Classical Revival style, the Carnegie Center was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and has played host to community events for decades. In September of 2021, Minot Area Council of the Arts assumed stewardship of the Carnegie Center with the intention of celebrating its legacy as a hub for the arts and humanities in Downtown Minot- managing the space as a community meeting place and celebration hall. In addition to coordinating rentals for public and private events, MACA utilizes the Carnegie to regularly host artistic and cultural events for the public and workshops for local students.
