I stay out of politics but I know our local commercial fisherman are being decimated by cheap imported seafood. There is nothing to compare to the quality of what is caught in the waters of North Carolina and our fisherman fish ethically and sustainably but that makes it nearly impossible to compete against farm grown junk from overseas. I hope that some of the changes in the economic system currently being implemented will put our fisherman in a much better position as well as bring the local catches back into our stores and restaurants.

Due to the incessant southwest winds the water level has dropped, and the Minnesott Beach Cherry Branch ferry is not running this morning (4/7).

It looks like we can officially say goodbye to the last traces of winter. Time to get the boat ready for time on the river. The north half of the Neuse is clear but the north wind is pushing the fog against the south side and ferry terminal isn’t visible. Still no ferry traffic at 13:18 but the next run is at 13:30 and will likely be running.
