Norway was in the restarted and successful Festival of Nations yesterday. Now called I-FEST Minnesota, it was held at the River Centre in St. Paul. Thanks to many dedicated volunteers who wanted the Festival to continue in order to share the many cultures here in Minnesota. Our group was small but mighty with Art Bjorngjeld playing 5 inspiring tunes (after a slåtte stev to start). That makes SIX dances we performed. Thanks to Kari T, Synneva and Jana! Looking forward to next year when more of us can join in. Others from the TC Nordic Dancers danced with the Finnish group and in the Irish group and in the Hungarian group. Hurrah! for the DANCE!

Thanks to all for celebrating last evening at dance practice! So wonderful to have such a group sing and dance the Norwegian birthday song, "Hurrah for deg!" all around me. It's also very gratifying and appreciated to have so many enthusiastic dancers learning new moves. The collaborative energy - with dancers adding their experience with how they dance Røros pols among the other dance traditions - is really fantastic! Very importantly, thanks to our musicians last night: the Twin Cities Hardingfelelag and thanks to Art Bjorngjeld. See you all at the Nordic Ball! (March 28th).

And....we did it ! Danced at the Ukrainian Center's International Holiday Festival. Very fun - with lots of variety....Rachel Jensen played music on her hardingfele, Kari Tauring played her bone flute and we sang along to "Jeg er saa glad", I got a Telespringar trejenta springar in with Kari and Synneva. Thanks to the dancers! Thanks to the Center for the invite!

Our group will be dancing at the International Holiday Festival at the Ukrainian Center on Sunday November 30th at 11:30 am. Join in and support the Ukrainians and have fun watching lots of different international dance groups. Our group (formerly known as 'Det Norske Folkedanslaget') has performed at this Festival since 1993 (at least) and here are some of our various iterations. There's food and arts and crafts for sale too!
