CSE Week - UMNTC Annual spring celebration of the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.

CSE week is an annual collection of events held in the spring to celebrate the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Dating back to 1914 and originally celebrated as Engineers' Day (E-Day) by the University's College of Engineering, this celebration has evolved over more than 100 years. During the 1950's the celebration was expanded to encompass an entire

week (E-Week). In the 1980's the celebration was renamed IT Week to reflect the then current name of the college (Institute of Technology) and the collaborative nature of science, math, engineering. In the 2010's, the week was again re-branded to reflect the new College of Science and Engineering name. We encourage you to leave comments, photos, videos and links here that are relevant to CSE Week and the topics being discussed, and appropriate in light of the University’s status as a public not-for-profit institution. That’s a wrap on CSE Week 2026! We had a record-breaking 112th annual event, but all good things must come to an end, and the countdown to next year’s begins now!

We cannot thank enough all the volunteers, student groups, sponsors, performers, caterers, staff, students, and visitors who made this event possible. You’re all amazing, and we’ll see you next year!

Gophers, are you ready to ROW THE BOAT and go to battle with your friends?

Many are saying you can’t build a GREAT boat from just 10 pounds of cardboard and ONE roll of duct tape. WRONG! You will build a BEAUTIFUL boat. The best boat. Believe me.

Get a crew of up to five friends. At least one of your people will get in the water with jousting sticks, water muskets, and cannon shot for a tremendous BATTLE ROYALE. The others can stay dry on the deck. Some people don’t like the water, and that’s okay.

Your mission is to sink your rivals. We are going to ram them, we are going to tip them, and we are going to knock them into the water. It will be a total disaster for them. The winners get total GLORY. The losers get soggy.

Date: April 20th
Location: Anderson Labs (MechE 2-134) and Natatorium (starting @ 8pm)
Team Size: Up to 5 members
Materials Provided: Cardboard, 1 roll of duct tape, tools, and water “weapons”
BRING SWIMWEAR IF YOU ARE GOING TO BATTLE

6:00 PM: Team Check-in
6:15 PM - 8:00 PM: Building Time
8:00 PM: Rules, suit up, parade
8:30 PM: JOUSTING COMMENCES
9:30 PM - 10:00 PM: Awards & Cleanup
