Thanks to support from people like you, we’ve achieved remarkable milestones — preserving the groundbreaking Melisande Charles Media Collection and leading the emergency stabilization and preservation of the Intermedia Arts Minnesota Archives.

And we’re not slowing down.

MNMA has received grant support to develop Community Media Preservation Workshops in a joint project with SPNN, planning a documentary about An Early History of Community Access Television in Minnesota, featuring the pioneering efforts of University Community Video and their groundbreaking TV series, “Changing Channels”.

With your support, we are continuing with plans for a permanent home for our media preservation lab, media archives and educational seminars.

Together, let’s keep Minnesota’s cultural voices alive.

We are wrapping up the Intermedia Arts media preservation project. We are excited to share that the Minnesota Historical Society is taking a number of boxes of media, artistic, and organization archives, and Minnesota Media Arts is still hoping to preserve and make usable a number of media archives. The work MMA has done is amazing and will benefit future generations who can experience all the amazing work that came from Intermedia Arts.

You can still help to help us raise funds for this work. Donate today at: the GiveMN Minnesota Media Arts, Intermedia Arts campaign page (https://www.givemn.org/story/3go9ff).

From 1973 to 2017, Intermedia Arts Minnesota was more than an arts organization—it was a movement. A creative home for artists and activists, a launchpad for powerful stories, and a national leader in community-based art and media.

Now, we have a chance to preserve its history before it fades away.

Minnesota Media Arts has entered into a Media Preservation Collection Care Agreement to assess and stabilize Intermedia Arts' stored archive of media, artist materials, and organizational documents. This first step is critical: we’re documenting the collection box by box, preparing it for long-term safekeeping and future public access.

Our goal: Raise $20,000 to fund this essential preservation phase.

You can help. Donate today at: the GiveMN Minnesota Media Arts, Intermedia Arts campaign page (https://www.givemn.org/story/3go9ff).
