🎃 THE CREATURES ARE OUT! 💀

Our Davis Graveyard Community Fence Project is officially underway!

We’ve put out the wooden Halloween cutouts, and they are FREE for you to grab, take home, paint, decorate, bedazzle, distress, glitter, gore-up... whatever your spooky little heart desires.

🖌️ HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

👻 Grab a cutout — available NOW until they're gone! (they are in the driveway in a stand, you cannot miss it)

🎨 Take it home and make it fabulous, creepy, silly, scary or completely weird. We encourage weird.

✍️ If you'd like your creation back after Halloween, write your name and contact information on the back.

Bring it back to the Davis Graveyard and we'll add it to our Community Creature Fence for October!

That's it!

We can't wait to see what everyone creates. The whole idea is to have a piece of the community actually become part of the Davis Graveyard this year.

Come grab yours before the creatures disappear!

So who is ready to Haunt the Fence? We are starting it....come and get your cut out. We are ready to go on the fence cut outs to paint for our fence on the JCB side to display while the yard is up. We even got a few returned already!!! Happy Halloween everyone!

Updating the Mercantile Crypt - AKA the Merch Booth - we use this to sell trinkets through out the the season to help support our foam addiction, I mean this Halloween craziness we love so much.

Today we want to shine a very large, slightly eerie spotlight on Deb Counts-Tabor, our real estate agent, friend, and the sponsor who helped bring the Davis Graveyard 30th Anniversary Open House BACK FROM THE DEAD! 💀

When we realized we weren't going to have the funding we needed to make the Open House happen this year, Deb stepped up with a donation that changed everything.

Because of her generosity, we were able to say:

YES. THE GATES ARE OPENING.

After all our starts, stops, grant applications, crossed fingers and general DG chaos, we're thrilled that we'll be welcoming everyone back behind the gates on October 11th.

So today belongs to Deb.

🖤 Sometimes it really does take a graveyard.

When we announced that we weren't going to be able to hold our 30th Anniversary Open House this year, we were disappointed. We really wanted to bring this event back and open the gates again after all these years.

And then some pretty wonderful people stepped up.

A HUGE thank you to Deb Counts-Tabor of WelcomeToPDX.com, who came forward to sponsor our Open House and helped make it possible.

And yes...a real estate agent is sponsoring our Open House. 😂
We couldn't have planned that better if we tried.

We also had a fellow haunter quietly step forward to help, along with another generous community sponsor who wanted to see this event happen. You know who you are, and we hope you know how much it means to us.

Because of these three people, something we thought we had to cancel is happening after all.

The open house gates will open.

We’re still putting all the pieces back together — street closure, entertainment, vendors, activities, kids stuff and about 8,000 other little details — but WE’RE DOING IT.

And because sometimes the universe has a sense of humor...

Our Open House is being sponsored by a real estate agent.

Apparently they know a thing or two about open houses. 😏

Thirty years of making Halloween, and apparently we're not done making things complicated yet.

Come on Milwaukie peeps. Lets make some Scarecrows!!!!!

The annual Scarecrow Contest is back! Community members are invited to create scarecrows to compete in one of three categories: most creative, most spooky and most Milwaukie. All scarecrows will go on display on the lawn of the pFriem/Keeper Coffee building at the intersection of Harrison and Main Streets. To participate, complete the form at www.milwaukieoregon.gov/scarecrowcontest. Stands can be picked up on Sep. 8, 9 and 10.
