We are sad to share that one of our rock star volunteers, Beth Fox, went to dance with the angels on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the age of 50. Beth will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful and joyful person, and will be greatly missed by family and friends. She lives on in the lives of the many people she touched at places she worked, in groups she participated in, and in her dear family. She loved and lived life to the fullest. She blessed many families through her library work and they are blessed for knowing her. Beth is survived by her parents Leo & Irene Fox, sisters Vicki and Sue. Further survived by many friends and relatives. Beth was raised in Wauwatosa, got a degree in German at UW-Eau Claire and her Masters in Library & Info Science at UWM; also studied in Bielefeld, Germany. Beth loved being a children's librarian, entertaining and inspiring countless children at libraries in Wauwatosa, Hales Corners, Germantown, New Berlin and Bradenton, Florida. Beth loved to swing dance and was known by her many dance friends as a great lead. She loved to travel, cherishing her time visiting relatives in Germany, her favorite city of Vienna, an adventure in Istanbul, and annual beach visits to Anna Maria Island, FL. She honored her German heritage by playing in the band and dancing with the Donauschwaben, and volunteering in the Schwaben Germanfest brat booth for many years. Community involvement included Germanfest, Amazing Milwaukee Race, Jumpin' Jive Club, Cream City Swing and the Zoo. Sincere thanks to all who sent thoughts, prayers and support. Thanks to her care teams at Froedert, Sarah Cannon-Nashville, Horizon Hospice and Zilber Hospice, for allowing Beth to fulfill her goals over the past year while fighting her battle with cancer. Help Justin Hear Again
Lizzy and I (Adam) were just back in Milwaukee for the Riverwest24- how we miss this wonderful city! We also got to see one of our favorite Brew City personalities, and great friend of the Amazing Milwaukee Race - Justin Raibolt! I'm here to ask for help on his behalf.

Justin has slowly been losing his hearing since a bilateral hearing loss diagnosis when he was 14. His hearing has almost completely disappeared in the last few years. He's taking matters into his own hands, and has started a GoFundMe Campaign to raise funds to get a Cochlear implant. If you ever met Justin on the race, you know that he's a super lovable outgoing guy who has a great sense of humor. His loss of hearing is incredibly crippling to a guy that's naturally social. PARKING for Saturday's Race
There are numerous parking garages within the vicinity of the Ale Asylum Riverhouse. ***BUCKS GAME*** BMO Harris Bradley Center @4:30. Luckily for us, the game starts just at the race wants to finish. Our best advice, zip in the AARH to pick up your M•Card, then park in the Grand Avenue, put $7 on your card, and make your way to the AARH for a pre race Bloody!

M•CARDS and using the Bus on the Amazing Milwaukee Race!

The Amazing Milwaukee Race is designed around using the Milwaukee County Transit System. Vast technological improvements have been made to our bus system that may benefit teams on the race.
•M-Cards: Instead of bus tickets, now you can use the M-Card! The MCTS M•CARD is a reusable plastic smart card that will provide discounted fares, replacing paper
tickets. Simply touch your MCTS M•CARD to the orange target on the bus farebox and one fare will be deducted each time you use it. If you are using an M•CARD for both team members, be sure to communicate with the driver you want 2 tickets deducted BEFORE you touch the card to the orange target. The passenger display will show information about your transaction. It’s easy, and most importantly – FAST! Transfers will be automatically stored on the MCTS M•CARD. If a person is paying cash and has an MCTS M•CARD, they can ask the bus driver to place a transfer on the MCTS M•CARD at the time of paying their cash fare.

•AMR has one free M•CARD for each team racing. Teams are responsible to load their own value on the card, before the race starts or during.

•CASH - You can still pay cash to ride the bus. Be sure to have $2.25 exact change per person, and ask for your transfers. Transfers are good for 90 minutes from when you get on the bus.

•AMR has copies of the MCTS 2015 Transit Guide for every team.

•APPS – Transit, MCTS Tracker, Google Maps. Check out these apps to help you on the race.

Happy National Library Week! Here's a great clue from last year's race- CENTRAL LIBRARY!
NO RUNNING OR SHOUTING! Search throughout the library to find the answers and fill in the _______ accordingly. Read the clue carefully, and take your time. Do not neglect to look outside, or at www.mpl.org.

Milwaukee’s socialist mayors, the Frank P. Zeidler humanities room contains
political science and government collections. Their newest exhibit tells the

Near the computer room, we get a sense of yesteryear from the
photos displayed, such as the Milwaukee Clipper in 1958, and a

between the existing beauty of the historic Central Library building with its
wonderful mosaics and renovated space for the Art, Music, and Recreation

A national competition was held to pick the architectural design for
the original building that housed both the library and the public museum.
