Cinco de Mayo Festival In Milwaukee: A Day of Culture, Community, and Advocacy at Serb Hall
DACA Leaders to be Honored with the Triumph of the Human Spirit Award.
MILWAUKEE, WI — On Saturday, May 2, 2026, El Conquistador Latino Newspaper will host its annual Cinco de Mayo Festival, a vibrant community celebration located at the American Serb Hall, 5101 W. Oklahoma Ave. Milwaukee. Running from 11 AM to 7 PM, this free event invites the public to honor Mexican heritage through a day of family-friendly entertainment and civic recognition.
A Celebration for Everyone
The festival grounds will be packed with activities for all ages, including:
• Thrills & Fun: Carnival rides and a dedicated children's area.
• The fan-favorite Chihuahua Beauty Contest
• Showcases: A custom Car Show and live musical entertainment throughout the day.
Honoring Community Champions
At 1 PM, the festival will hold its official Opening Ceremonies. This year, the festival is proud to honor three distinguished legislators for their tireless advocacy and bipartisan work on the DACA bill:
• State Senator Tim Carpenter
• Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez
• Representative Jessie Rodriguez
• Alderman Jose Perez
• Darryl Morin, President of Latino Forward
Their commitment to securing the future of "Dreamers" reflects the true spirit of the community and the very essence of Cinco de Mayo.
The Spirit of Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla in 1862, in which a vastly outnumbered Mexican army defeated the superior French forces. While it marks a military victory, we celebrate it today as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. It serves as a powerful reminder that when people unite with a common purpose, they can overcome even the most incredible odds.
"This festival is more than just a party; it's a tribute to the strength of our community and the leaders who fight for our rights every day."
