A little story about how InnerShine became SOL
Five years ago, with the incredible help of my SOL sister Rose, I launched what many of you first knew as InnerShine Retreat.
At the time, my "why" was simple: I wanted more sisterhood.
After becoming a mama, I realized I didn't have the community I had imagined for this season of my life. I was craving women to gather with, create with, camp with, learn from, and simply be alongside. So, in true Aries fashion, I did what any stubborn fire sign would do. I decided to blaze ahead and create it myself.
Thank goodness for stubbornness.
What followed was more beautiful than I could have imagined.
Over the years, we gathered in the forest. We camped together. We explored our interests, skills, creativity, and passions. We got a little witchy, a little weird, a lot vulnerable, and very, very happy. We created things with our hands and created community with our hearts.
And honestly? I became hooked.
SOL became the thing I looked forward to every summer.
A few years ago, while visiting Costa Rica, the name SOL came to me. At that point, I was raising two babies and had changed so much myself. My needs, my desires, and my understanding of what sisterhood meant had evolved.
And if I'm being honest, I realized that InnerShine no longer felt quite like me.
What did it even mean anymore?
But SOL felt alive.
SOL means sun.
SOL means soul.
SOL means gathering in the height of summer to honor the light within ourselves and each other.
And if you want to play with it a little...
✨ Sisters of Light
✨ Sisters of Love
✨ Sisters of Laughter
✨ Sisters of Lineage
The more I sat with it, the more I realized that this gathering was never about becoming something different. It was about remembering who we are when we come together.
So here's to continuing to play, create, gather, and grow together. Aho!
