Our Story
Rock the Desert is a three-day Christian music Festival held in Midland, Texas and is scheduled for August 1, 2 & 3, 2019. For the last 19 years, we’ve been bringing the best Chrisitian artists to the Permian Basin for a weekend of fun, entertainment and fellowship that is suitable for the entire family. The mission of Rock the Desert is to reach today’s generation through contemporary Christian music and recreational facilities so that they may hear the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
Rock the Desert Ministries, Inc. (RTD) began in 2000 with a free, one-day concert held in a church parking lot that drew over 4,000 people. In 2001, RTD moved to Beal Park and the event offered great Christian music, speakers, skateboarding, extreme games, camping and a Jumbotron. Over the years, the event was relocated to RTD's permanent home at 2000 S. FM 1788 in Midland, Texas across from the airport. RTD is now known as one of the most influential Christian festivals in the United States. In 2014, RTD Skatepark was built on the property and features professional skateboarders during the festival. It is also open to the public year round.
