Let me speak as BLUNTLY as I know how!!!

Parents, especially those of color, our kids know when sneakers are dropping, when a concert is gonna happen, when a video game is coming out and will make 10,000% effort to be one of the ones to get there first, and some of you parents bring your children to these events because you don't want them missing out!! So why is it, when an organization is giving out money for scholarships, it's like pulling teeth or performing a root canal to get these kids or parents to push their students to apply!!!.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!! Including the M.U.A other organizations have said the same thing!!! Then the deadline passes and 2 weeks after thats when it dawns on you to have your kids submit applications ...

We have announced our scholarships for over 2 months now and have called the schools... we want your kids to win... we are trying to invest in their future!!!.

Can we say JUNETEENTH!!!

The Middletown Ujima Alliance is kicking off the Middletown Juneteenth Liberation Day Festival/Parade with a Campaign!!!

We are just 3 months away from Juneteenth and we wanted to start on the right foot!!

This year's theme is "All Things Joy"

For 4 festivals we have tried to come up with new ways to get the community involved as well as to continue to plant seeds, educate, entertain and also provide positive cultural experiences for all.

We Are in Year 5 Yall!!!!!

As we continue to give out it's always beautiful when the community can participate.

This year the design of the shirt was simple but impactful. The background image of the bridge but also the words that are around it.

Tenacity: The quality or fact of being very determined. Those who were enslaved and their freedom taken risked their lives and the lives of their families to be free.

Courage: Strength in the face of pain or grief. Although it was means of survival, our ancestors were taken from their homeland and was put into egregious and deplorable conditions. Although faced with these circumstances from the greed of others, they found the courage to survive or even react to conditions that weren't conducive to their livelihood.

Jubilation: A feeling of great happiness and triumph. Becoming free after being physically oppressed may have felt like a triumph but there was alot of uncertainty.

Pride: A feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements/ the achievements of those whom one is closely associated. As we fast forward to 2024, we are more knowledgeable and have more Pride then ever. Pride in our history before taken into bo***ge. Pride in being black period.

Fortitude: Finding Strength and courage through pain and adversity. You always have to put your best self first even when you don't want to. That's the story of our people.

Freedom: The power or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

Strength: The capacity of an object of substance to withstand great force or pressure. All we know is to be strong. Being weak isn't apart of our DNA.

This shirt was designed in thought, in regards to past and current actions, trials, tribulations, victory's and adversities. This commemorative shirt is symbolic to the struggles our ancestors went through for us to live a life we have today and that we are still fighting for in certain aspects.

We Celebrate not only Black Liberation for the Culture of today but we honor our past and the lives lost.
