☀️🌴🚢The UK heatwave has us all pretending we’re in Barbados… but new figures show millions are cruising the real thing!
According to CLIA’s 2026 State of the Cruise Industry Report, shared by Bud Darr, President & CEO, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) at 2026:
📈 37.2 million people cruised globally in 2025, a 7.5% increase year-on-year
👀 Nearly 90% of cruisers intend to sail again - the highest level ever recorded
🌍 Cruise generated $198bn in global economic impact, supporting 1.8 million jobs worldwide
The Caribbean, Bahamas and Bermuda remained the world’s most popular cruise destination, welcoming 16.27 million passengers and accounting for 44% of global destination share.
But growth wasn’t limited to one region…
8.9 million Europeans cruised in 2025, up 5.3% year-on-year, while the Mediterranean remained the world’s second largest cruise destination, welcoming 3.22 million passengers.
💬 “Cruising is sailing toward the future with exceptional momentum and strength.” - Bud Darr, President & CEO, CLIA
⚓ With European demand continuing to grow, conversations around destinations, infrastructure, sustainability and future opportunities across the region have never been more important - themes set to remain front and centre at this September.
