The Renegades to perform in Metamora during Eclipse Festival

The Renegades, who have been touring the midwest for years and sharing the stage with country legends, are kicking off their 2024 concert series in Metamora at the "Darkside of the Moon Festival" to celebrate the highly anticipated Total Solar Eclipse.

The Darkside of the Moon Festival is a weekend-long festival that begins on Friday, April 6 and ends on Monday, April 8, at Gateway Park in Metamora. The Renegades, known for their high-impact outlaw country rock and roll party show on wheels, will perform on April 7, beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 by calling (765) 647-2541 or for $20 at the gate.

"The Renegades are honored to be starting off our 30-year summer tour right close to home in Metamora, Indiana," frontman Brian "Biggin" Noble said. "We have loved this canal town since we were kids and honored to make our first appearance here."

The band puts its own twist on a familiar southern sound that has been influenced by many artists in the business, such as John Mellencamp, Blackfoot, The Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle, George Jones, B.B. King, and more. Noble said, "So anywhere from Soul to Bluegrass and from Rock and Roll to the greatest Country Legends. What can I say? We play it all, and we love the music. We play what the audience wants to hear."

In the last few years, they have shared the stage with greats like Montgomery Gentry, Chris Janson, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker Band, Confederate Railroad, Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, Collin Raye, 38 Special, Exile, the legendary Delbert McClinton, and many more. On May 18, the Renegades will play with yet another legendary act, Shenandoah. Their latest single, "Pop's Flag," released on Sol Records, has been showcased and heard on country and rock radio stations worldwide in over 40 countries.

"We are really looking forward to bringing in a larger national act for this show," said Ron Yurcak, president of the Whitewater Canal Byway Association, which is hosting the festival. "The Renegades are a full-time touring band, and we are proud to give our community a chance to hear them close to home."

With their high-energy performances, The Renegades consistently attract large crowds of enthusiastic fans and captivate new audiences wherever they go.

"Bring the families and enjoy a Sunday Funday with us as they prep for the Eclipse," Noble said. Be sure to come by the merch tent and say hello! We can't wait to meet you all!"

Beyond the music, the festival will include camping, bonfires, an outdoor movie on the big screen, food vendors, a tinfoil hat contest, a huge eclipse viewing area, and a designated area for photographers and telescope users. Camping is still available but filling up fast.

About the Band
The Renegades are a band born in the Southeastern Indiana town of Sunman in 1994. The group behind the music is comprised of a remarkable team of musicians. The band is led by Brian "Biggin" Noble, a Southeastern Indiana Musicians Hall of Fame member. Accompanying him are Randy Peak and Art Caddell, who provide tag-team guitar performances; Russell Griffith, the founding father and bassist who is also a member of the Hall of Fame; and Jeremy Caddell, the newly added drummer, who also provides backup vocals. Look to the earth for many things, crickets chirping, birds stop singing, naucturnal animals come out. It will be an amazing time.

As an eclipse passes overhead, most eyes will be glued to the sky. But take a moment to look at the ground — the shadows made by trees and other objects that cause a "pinhole" effect will be dappled with tiny crescents.
