The weather is getting warmer, the ground temperature is starting to heat, the seed is being prepared... all in the name of CORN!
We are preparing to welcome you to the 79th Annual Sweet Corn Festival in the City Of Mendota, IL!
79 years... that takes us all the way back to 1947...
In popular culture, the famous "Roswell Incident" sparked decades of curiosity about UFOs, Jackie Robinson made history by breaking barriers in professional baseball, and the first workable computer weighed 30 tons (60,000lbs), and occupied 1,800 square feet of space! Crazy to think that you're reading this on a computer that most likely fits in your pocket.
We've come a long way together, life is different, and even corn is different, in the early 1950s, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign botany professor John Laughnan developed "supersweet" corn. And for that we must say Thank you John! 🌽🌽
We're excited to have you with us this year, we'll see you SOON!
