✨ 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒. ✨
One of the most fun parts of camp? 𝐂𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐓 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒! 💃🏻🕺🏻

Every night after our concerts, the cabaret comes alive — and 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐬, 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦.

And there is 𝐍𝐎 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐅𝐄𝐄.
No paying for a spot on stage. If you’re attending camp and want to share your dance, we want to celebrate you. ❤️

Come dance. Come perform. Come cheer ridiculously loudly for your friends. 😄

This year at camp, we had the pleasure of learning Egyptian Style Belly Dance with the wonderful Vanessa of Cairo.

Egyptian Raqs Sharqi developed into its modern theatrical form in Egypt in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, later flourishing during the Golden Age of Egyptian cinema. At its heart are 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Vanessa brings years of experience living, performing and studying dance in Cairo, sharing not just movement but a deeper understanding of Egyptian music and dance. ❤️

𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽, 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹’𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘀. 📸🌲

These are the moments that make camp feel like home. ❤️

The music, the dancing, the friendships, the laughter — and all those little moments in between that are almost impossible to describe unless you’ve been here.

For more than 30 years, 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗙. 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻 has been capturing the beauty, movement and spirit of the Middle Eastern dance community, and we are so grateful to have so many pieces of our camp history preserved through his photography.

Looking through Carl’s photos is like stepping back into camp for a moment. 🌲

Some of the most beautiful moments at camp happen around the fire circle, not just at night, but during the day, too. ❤️🔥🥁

For thousands of years, drums have brought people together—to celebrate, dance, tell stories, and create community through rhythm.

At camp, master percussionist and longtime teacher 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗶 Dror Sinai leads us into that world. With his warmth, energy, and deep knowledge of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean rhythms, Dror has a wonderful way of making everyone feel like they belong in the circle—whether you’ve been playing for years or you’re holding a drum for the very first time.

Under the redwoods, gathered around the fire, we learn rhythms, listen to one another, laugh, play, and create music together.

𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲. You don’t have to be a musician. Just come, pick up a drum, and join the circle. ❤️

These are the moments that make camp feel like home.
