This name came about while he and I went back and forth playing lead in the pep band. As a female, he was surprised that I could keep nailing the high notes time after time. Honestly, I was just cutting loose and having a great time in the band. My parents picked up on the name and had an airbrushed license plate made that said Hot Chops. This name could not be more appropriate for brass players and even percussionists around the world since we talk about our "chops" all the time!
