Shara's Songwriters' Showcase Shara's Songwriters' Showcase is a live, acoustic plug & play singer/ songwriter competition at Lafayette's. Four cash prizes are awarded.

Up to 20 artists showcase their best song and the audience's votes determine the winners. I'm Shara Layne, an emerging Singer-Songwriter here in Memphis, with a huge heart for other artists. It's my intention to cultivate a celebration of original artistry in our community by providing an opportunity to perform original songs at one of Memphis' grandest live music venues. Thank you for joining me!

Each Show features 20 local Original Artists. Each Artist performs one original song, family friendly, Acoustic-Style (2 instrument max.), and receives professional images and video of their performance.

$10 Artist Entry fee (paid at Sign Up)
$5 General Admission (paid at venue)

Audience members vote for their favorites after all 20 artists have performed. The 4 artists with the most cumulative votes are awarded cash prizes:

1st Place- $200
2nd Place- $150
3rd Place- $75
4th Place- $50

1st place winners are invited to sit on the Industry Professionals Panel for the following Showcase and will perform 2 songs while votes are tallied. The Industry Professionals Panel, IPP, is comprised of 3 (volunteers) who work in the Industry (Published Songwriters, Booking Agents, Artist Managers, Venue Owners, Producers, Studio Engineers, Vocal Coaches, and Marketing Managers). The panel completes an Artist Critique Sheet for each performer that the artists take with them. Lafayette's graciously provides dinner & non-alcoholic beverages for the panel and networking is [estatically] encouraged!
