The Ed Murphey Classic has officially been named the FINAL stop on the newly formed 2026 Tour and will once again be labelled a Continental Tour Silver event!

This year’s event will bring an all-new Beale Street competition format, featuring immersive fan experiences and high-energy street events on Saturday — followed by a Sunday afternoon showdown to wrap up one of the most exciting weekends of track & field anywhere in the country.

USATF has announced $50,000 in prize money for both the top male and female athletes who earn the highest number of World Athletics performance points across their three best performances on the Tour. The stakes have never been higher — and Memphis will be the grand finale.

John has served on the MRTC Board of Directors for the past 20 years. He has also served or currently serves on the boards of Girls On The Run Memphis, Ed Murphey Classic, Memphis Youth Athletics and Accessible Hope International. He has made service to others, especially the Memphis running community, a core part of his lifestyle. We can't think of anyone more deserving. Congratulations John!
