Thank you so so so much to everyone who has donated to this campaign. We are so close!!!

Thank you for believing in what we are building in the Canyon. Seeing the community come together for art is such an incredibly inspiring thing. We are so grateful and cannot wait until September.

The history of the Frio Canyon is deeply intertwined with the history of the vaquero. Featured in these photographs are vaqueros working the historic Annandale Ranch, a place that has helped shape the landscape, culture, and ranching traditions of this region for generations.

The Annandale Ranch has remained in the same family for more than a century and today is protected by conservation easements that ensure this remarkable piece of the Texas Hill Country will remain intact for future generations rather than being divided and developed. Those conservation efforts don’t just preserve history and open space. They also help protect the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone, safeguarding a vital water source for communities across South Texas.

It’s a powerful example of how the past and present meet in the Frio Canyon.

Join us at TerraTx Art Fest on September 26 to hear from the incredible about the history and legacy of the vaquero, and from members of the Cofer family as they share the story of Annandale Ranch and its enduring impact on this region.

The Texas Hill Country has always inspired people. Long before there were festivals, galleries, or social media, these rivers, hills, canyons, and small towns were shaping stories, memories, songs, and traditions that have been passed down for generations.

TerraTx Art Fest is our attempt to celebrate that connection between people and place through art, history, music, ecology, and storytelling.

Join us September 25–27 as artists, historians, musicians, naturalists, and community members come together to explore the legends, landscapes, and stories that make this region special.

We are so incredibly close to reaching our goal for the Neal's Family Legacy artwork, and we've had a few questions about what this piece will actually be.

The artwork is not the image shown on the fundraiser poster. The poster is simply a way to help us raise the funds needed to bring the project to life.

The actual artwork will be created by Matt Tumlinson, who will spend time with Helen Buchanan and Gayle Korbell listening to their stories about growing up on the Frio, their families, the early days of tourism in Concan, and the people who helped shape this place into what it is today.

From those conversations, Matt will create an original work inspired by the stories, memories, and history they share.

This piece is a tribute to the Neal's family, to the history of tourism in Concan, and to the generations of Texans who have fallen in love with the Frio River and made memories here.

It's hard to imagine two better storytellers for this project than Ms. Gayle and Ms. Helen. If you've ever stopped by Frio's Dry Fifty, you've probably met Ms. Gayle, one of the sweetest people you'll ever encounter. And if you've ever visited Neal's Dining Room Concan , you've certainly crossed paths with Ms. Helen a local legend. Look around closely and you'll even find photos of her as a little girl hanging on the walls.

These are exactly the kinds of stories TerraTx was created to preserve and celebrate.
We're honored that Matt has agreed to create this piece, and we can't wait to hear the stories that inspire it.

Ps: I’ve attached some of Matt Tumlinson’s work to give more context for the type of work he creates.

Some partnerships just make perfect sense.

The owners of have long been supporters of the arts, and their appreciation for creativity, culture, and community makes them the perfect partners in helping bring the TerraTx Art Trail to life.

We’re incredibly grateful to have Seven Bluff as a partner in TerraTx Art Fest and in our shared vision of creating a growing collection of public art that celebrates the stories, landscapes, history, and spirit of the Frio Canyon.

Thank you for believing in this vision and helping make it possible. We can’t wait to see what we create together.

These old photos remind us that this place has always inspired connection, storytelling, music, adventure, and memory.

The Frio Canyon has been bringing people together for generations, and that spirit is still very much alive here.

We’re just adding another layer to that story.

We are officially 77% funded for the public artwork honoring the Neal’s legacy in Concan and the history of tourism along the Frio River. So close yall!

This piece is about celebrating the stories, memories, and generations of families who have made this place so special for nearly 100 years. Every square purchased helps bring the artwork to life.

Thank yall for believing in this project and showing up for our little community the way you always do.

If you’ve ever been to the Frio River, chances are you’ve had a meal at Neal’s Dining Room. It’s a Texas tradition. An icon woven into the story of Concan itself.

This year marks 100 years of Neal’s Lodges. One hundred years of welcoming families to the Frio River. To celebrate this milestone, TerraTx Art Fest is creating a public artwork inspired by the history of tourism in Concan and the stories of the Neal’s family. Artist Matt Tumlinson will spend time with members of the Neal’s family, listening to their memories and experiences, then transforming those stories into a permanent piece of public art.

It’s oral history made visible.

Now the community has a chance to help bring it to life. Just like our butterfly fundraiser, you can purchase a spot on the coloring page to support the project. Every square helps fund an artwork that honors the people, stories, and traditions that helped shape the Frio Canyon into the special place we know today.

Help us celebrate 100 years of Neal’s and leave your mark on the canyon.

This land isn’t just a backdrop. It’s a living system.

At TerraTX, artists work alongside local naturalists and ecologists, learning from the plants, wildlife, and rhythms that shape the Frio Canyon.

The result is work that’s not just inspired by nature, but rooted in it.

Art that reflects the life of this place.
