Pumpkin donuts are "a fall festival must-have"

Green Bluff's craze over pumpkin donuts 🍩goes hand in hand with falling leaves, 🍂 and pumpkin picking.
👇
But why? Well after some research, it's simple to say — pumpkin donuts grew as a natural extension of our pumpkin-focused, fall-festival identity.
📰
But interestingly...
We found newspaper clips from the 1920-40s mentioning donuts as the staple of Halloween parties 🎉🎃 (harvest celebrations) along side c***r, apples, and pumpkin pie; later replaced by candy.

So let's call it a tradition and we don't see ourselves ever changing that 😋

Here's where you can try your pumpkin donuts on Green Bluff, starting from the photo graphic, left to right. 😍

NOTE: Please visit the farm's website or social media before arriving. All of these farms have different operating hours and may, or may not, have festival or parking fees. You can also find this info and grower map at GREENBLUFFGROWERS.COM

Meet the Grower: Nàdair Orchard ⛺🍏

Nàdair means "Nature" in Scottish Gaelic, perfectly embodies our vision for living and farming: in harmony with nature.

Here you’ll find a small, family-operated farm with a goal to grow delicious food for their family and community, in a sustainable and healthy way. Their orchard offers u-pick apples, apricots, cherries, pears, Asian pears, plumbs, and pumpkins.

You can visit our produce stand and new gift shop most weekends from July through October. When our store is closed, the orchard and various produce are available to pick and purchase on the honor system.

Beyond selling fresh produce, Nàdair is thrilled to share their farm as a camping and event venue! They have two RV camping spots equipped with power and water hookups, as well as tent camping amidst the orchard.

Starting this year, they’re excited to host weddings and other events. You can find all the details about camping and events on their website.

️ ✨About the Owner
“Our family embarked on an exciting journey when we purchased this beautiful 20-acre farm in May 2017. We weren’t really looking for a farm or orchard, we were just looking for a quiet home in the country. What we found was so much more than that, we discovered a whole new way of life! Over the years, our family dynamic has evolved, and we’re thrilled to be making exciting changes to our farm as well.

We take pride in managing everything ourselves; each family member contributes in their unique way. Our goal is to grow delicious food for our family and community, in a sustainable and healthy way. While we do incorporate some traditional farming methods, we are continually working towards more renewable and environmentally responsible methods. We are focusing on permaculture, ensuring we work in harmony with nature, while also expanding our offerings to include a variety of unique produce.

Green Bluff is a stunning and vibrant farming community, and we can’t wait for you to experience the magic of our farm with us! “

We love Fall Festival season on Green Bluff; 🙌the music, the c***r, the pumpkins, the joy. But we also love the slow moments that make October feel magical 👉 in a different way.

Fall in love with the views, the quiet corners, and nature’s gifts 🍎🍐🥦🫑. The same things that made us fall in love with growing here in the first place. 🏞️

Green Bluff is open all week long, not just on the weekends. If you’re looking to bulk up on apples, grab produce for meal prep, explore small farms, or simply see a side of the Bluff most people miss, you’re invited.

Their goal is to be a staple in the community for farm fresh food and produce, a happy and healthy farm, doing our due diligence to protect and cultivate our land and keep our promise for organic, real food in a way that brings glory to our creator.

️✨About the Owner
“Hi my name is Erin and I own and operate High Country Orchard with my family. I have 6 children ranging in ages from 8 to 18 along with 2 step children ages 7 and 4. HCO was established over 20 years ago and has changed hands 3 times, with us being the third owners. I have always loved the outdoors and animals and had lots of pets when I was young. I was inspired to start actual farming 15 years ago when my third son was a baby, I purchased two dairy goats for my small Phoenix backyard and it was all over from there!

After then moving to a 5 acre lot in northern AZ, I really dove into food as medicine, got certified as an herbalist, and started a small milk soap and raw milk dairy business. I wanted to take farming a step further and walk alongside people on their path to health, and healing, using food as our main source of medicine.”

Meet the Grower Week: Siemers Farm🏰👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🎃

Siemers Farm has been the core of fall family memories for over 25 years. Today, they carry on the long-lasting traditions, as well as creating new ways to invite you to the farm; more than just in the month of October. They grow strawberries, rhubarb, pumpkins, squash, and more.

They've expanded to more than a u-pick farm by hosting events, festivals and the opening of Mt. Spokane Brewery, Castle Pizza, and Donut Shack. Featuring fresh ingredients, b**r, c***rs, w**e, jams, juices, lemonades, and more. All made from fresh locally grown fruits and produce; much of which is grown right on their farm.

Their next event their annual Fall Festival going until November 1 - every Friday through Sunday from 10am - 5pm.

Siemers Farm is known for their historical corn (and hedge) maze — being Washington State's oldest and longest running — explore the multi-level castle, tractor and train rides, u-pick pumpkin patch and strawberry field, and so much more.

️✨About the Owners
Bert and the Siemers Farm crew dedicate their entire operations: their activities, rides, vendors, commitment to safety; even to the food selection and farm pricing are all designed with families in mind. Upholding decades of family memories is what motivates them every year to get creative in how to both continue traditions, and curate new ones.

Meet the Grower: Green Bluff Candy Company (Halbig Family Farm)🍫🌱🍓

A “garden to candy” farm as well as uniquely boasts “bean-to-bar” chocolate products, which means the cocoa beans are ground in-house, and the chocolate concoction is a special recipe and taste. Green Bluff Candy Company is the only candy maker on Green Bluff; known for their caramels and chocolate from scratch.

You’ll find exciting garden flavor combos such as raspberry-serrano chocolate bars, blueberry chocolate drops, and vanilla salted soft caramel rolls — many, many more original flavors to try. When you visit, grab a box, and u-pick your chocolate selection for a customized treat sampler. All products are made 100% on Green Bluff, no-resell here!

Also up for grabs in their candy display shop are freeze-dried vegetables, fruits, powder, and combination melodies for easy cooking and baking. A staple in the Green Bluff Candy Company kitchen, as they're always using natural flavors in our products.

️ ✨About the Owner
Richard and Erica Halbig, retired Navy family, began farming and making candies on Green Bluff in 2020. When not in the kitchen, they grow produce either to use in our candies or for wholesale to other Green Bluff Farmers, such as tomatoes, pickling cukes, squash, eggplant, etc.

“Learning to farm has been challenging but very rewarding. Gophers are the biggest detriment to farming here, and we will be trying to add Owl boxes as a natural deterrent in the next couple of years. We work with many of the other farms here on the Bluff, as our candies can be found in a couple of the farm stores and in return we use produce from many of the farms, freeze dry it, and use it to make our candies. We are members of the local grange and participate in local events when able.

Look ahead to our next goal of adding pumpkins this year and working on more wholesale opportunities with our candies!"

✨Hours of Operation:
Mid-July through the end of November
Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9:30 am to - 4:30
We are willing to open any time with a phone call.
