Look who’s hugging our 2026 Fair Ambassador Peyton Gregor – Big Chicken! As Big Chicken clucked approvingly, County Commissioner Kit Johnston presented the $1,000 College Scholarship to Peyton at the Yamhill-Carlton Senior Awards on June 4th.

“Peyton amazed our judges”, stated Commissioner Johnston, “She excels academically and as a four-sport varsity athlete. An active FFA member, she helped the Y-C FFA Ag Sales team become the 2025 National Champions! Peyton’s County Fair adventures began during 5th grade, in 4-H, raising sheep and pigs. Her desire to share her many Fair experiences and her energetic spirit make Peyton an ideal Fair Ambassador!”

County Commissioner Kit Johnston also had the pleasure of awarding a $1,000 College Scholarship certificate to our 2026 Fair Ambassador Lilly Gonzalez during the June 3rd senior awards at McMinnville High School.



“Lilly has been a 4-H member for 8 years and participates with her horse Callie at our County Fair & Rodeo,” said Commissioner Johnston. “She served as President of the Saddle Dusters 4-H Club, County 4-H Ambassadors, and McMinnville’s chapter of the Family, Career, Community Leaders of America. Lilly got high marks from our judges for sportsmanship and a cheerful attitude – excellent traits for a Fair Ambassador!”

On June 3rd, our 2026 Fair Ambassador Abby Gilbey was honored with a $1,000 College Scholarship certificate by Kit Johnston, Yamhill County Commissioner, during McMinnville High School’s scholarship awards.



Commissioner Johnston remarked, “Abby has been a 4-H member for 9 years, showing rabbits and goats at our County Fair. Her leadership roles include: President of the County 4-H Ambassadors and Vice-President of the National Honor Society. Our interview panel enjoyed interacting with Abby. They highlighted her public-speaking skills and her outgoing personality – Abby is a great choice as a Fair Ambassador!”

Every year, it is an honor to recognize our Fair & Rodeo Ambassadors at Senior Awards ceremonies. On June 1st, Fair Board member Greg Wildhaber presented our $1,000 College Scholarship certificate to 2026 Fair Ambassador Kenzie Kauer at Amity High School.



Greg commented, “Kenzie impressed our interview panel with her high academic standards and leadership abilities, including service as a class officer and as President of Amity’s FFA Chapter. She is also Vice-President of Farmers and Friends 4-H Club and has shown pigs and steers at our County Fair for four years. Our judges appreciate Kenzie’s clear, concise communication skills – making her a perfect Fair Ambassador!”
