✨ Meet the New Face Behind Woodlawn Chapel ✨
For those who may be new here, I'm Brandy Carret Blackburn, Operator of Woodlawn Chapel and Owner & Creative Designer for Cajun to Couture Events LLC.
I was born and raised in South Louisiana, right in the heart of Cajun Country. My roots run deep here, and I have always loved the sense of community, hospitality, and celebration that makes our culture so special.
When I'm not at the venue or working with clients, you'll likely find me spending time with my husband, Ben, visiting my grandson Casey James, enjoying the outdoors, or relaxing with a fishing pole in hand. Family, faith, and community are at the center of everything I do.
My journey into the event industry began from a place very close to my heart. After planning my own wedding and helping organize milestone celebrations for family and friends, I realized just how much I loved bringing meaningful moments to life. There is something special about watching people gather, celebrate, and create memories that last a lifetime.
That passion eventually led me to create Cajun to Couture Events LLC. Growing up in South Louisiana taught me the value of hospitality and making people feel welcome, while my love for elegant design, thoughtful details, and beautiful spaces fueled my creative side. Cajun to Couture was born from that blend of passions — Louisiana charm paired with refined, intentional design.
My goal has always been simple: to help people celebrate their most important moments in a way that feels meaningful, seamless, and uniquely theirs.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and spent many years working in bookkeeping, sales, and business operations. Those experiences helped build the organizational and client-focused foundation that I bring to every event today.
As I learned more about Woodlawn Chapel and the incredible story of Mr. David Pierce, I felt an unexpected connection to both him and his passion for preserving this special place. Mr. David is the reason Woodlawn Chapel still exists today. Rather than seeing it lost to demolition, he rescued the chapel, relocated it to its current home, and lovingly restored it so future generations could continue to enjoy and appreciate its beauty. Like Mr. David, I have a background in the arts and a deep appreciation for creativity and self-expression. I taught dance for nearly 20 years, and when I first began college, my original major was Theatre.
The arts have always been a part of who I am. Whether through dance, performance, event design, or creating memorable experiences for others, I've always been drawn to opportunities that bring people together and allow them to celebrate life's meaningful moments. The more I learned about the history of Woodlawn Chapel, the more I felt honored to become part of its next chapter while respecting the legacy that Mr. David created.
When the opportunity arose to operate Woodlawn Chapel and continue its legacy, it felt like a natural extension of everything I love. Today, I have the privilege of helping couples, families, and our community celebrate some of life's most important milestones in a venue that is rich with history, beauty, and potential.
My vision for Woodlawn Chapel is simple: to preserve the warmth and character that so many people have come to love while continuing to grow it as a welcoming place for weddings, celebrations, classes, community gatherings, memorials, and life's many meaningful moments.
