Martinsburg Kiwanis The Martinsburg Kiwanis Club meets bi-weekly on the first and third Thursday of each month. The Point of Contact is the current Kiwanis President, Ms.

Martinsburg Kiwanis Club Events The Martinsburg Kiwanis Scholarship The Martinsburg Kiwanis Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded annually. The Scholarship is based upon Academic Excellence, Community Service and Participation in Kiwanis Key Club. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years at $500 per year. Renewal of the scholarship will be based upon academic achievement. The Martinsburg Kiwanis currently awards one new scholarship annually. Applications for the scholarship must be submitted by March 31st. Application forms are available from school counselors and by writing to: Martinsburg Kiwanis, 342 Tanbridge Drive, Martinsburg, WV 25401 or by calling 304-263-5854 Apple Harvest Pancake Breakfast: This event is a major fundraiser for the club. This is a breakfast that is served as part of the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival. The club prepares and serves up to 1,000 plates of pancakes, eggs, sausage, sausage gravy and toast. This event is held in October. Pancake Dinner for Stonewall: This event is held the weekend after the apple harvest breakfast using excess food supplies. The club provides food and preparation to individuals who reside at the Stonewall High Rise. The Key Club helps serve the food. A donation is taken up and is given to the Key Club that helped serve. Job for a Day: Each year in November students at the three local high schools have an opportunity to job shadow for a day. Kiwanis members go out into the community and try to pair the student up with their “dream” job. Some of the past jobs have included doctors, teachers and even a mortician. The students then come to a meeting and talk about their experience. Salvation Army Kettle: The first Saturday in December members go ring the bell at Kmart Deliver Poinsettias to Nursing Homes: The club picks up flowers from a local nursery and delivered them to the local nursing homes, hospitals and other locations. The date of this activity varies. Kiwanis One Day of Caring: The club provides the manpower to cook the food for the Berkeley County Senior Center. Elimination Dinner: This is a new fundraiser for 2011. This is a cash elimination dinner that will take place on April 16th. A buffet dinner will be provided. There will be 200 tickets sold. March of Dimes Walkathon: The club hands out doughnuts and juice at the beginning of the walk. Spring Yard Sale: This is a fundraiser that goes directly to the scholarship fund. This event is held in May at the Martinsburg Mall parking lot. Labor Day Breakfast-War Memorial Park: The club helps prepare food for this breakfast. The money that is raised from this event goes to the upkeep of War Memorial Park. Backpacks for DHHR: The club provides backpacks for children that are taken into custody by DHHR. The backpacks provide items such as hygiene, coloring books, stuffed animals and blankets for the children who may not have anything. This is an ongoing project. The Martinsburg Kiwanis Club provides money to the following: Salvation Army Special Olympics Relay for Life Boys and Girls Club CASA Arden United Methodist Men (Christmas presents for boys) BUGS
