***Dolanator Wx Forecast for The Equalizer 100k Missouri State Gravel Championship on 7-26-24***
An exciting course for the first ever Gravel State Championship starting in Marthasville, MO!
Look for mainly sunny skies and dry weather! Maybe a few clouds here than there. Isolated storms north could end up producing more clouds at the start of the race. Plan on the sun being out during the race. Isolated storms could enter the picture after 1pm. Thus, there's a chance more clouds around will be around. It's a nowcasting situation. Plan on dry weather though!
If you use ice socks I would use one before the start of the race! Temps in the upper 70s for the race start at 7:30am! Look for dewpoints around 74 at the start increasing to 79 by the end of the race. Winds generally around 3-7 mph out of the SW. Temps will increase to around 80 at 8am, low-mid 80s (9am). Heat indexes come into the picture after 8am into the race. Expect heat indexes in the 90s thru 9am.
Once we get to 9:30am and after, expect for heat indexes to get above 100*! Air temps will be in the upper 80s at 10am then warming to mid 90s by noon and thru the afternoon. Dangerous heat indexes start after 10am (105*+). Reaching max indexes of 110-112* around 12pm and after! Many should be done with the race by 11am, but if you plan to take longer expect those warmer heat indexes!
The majority (75%) of the course has sun! Thus, that will help make it feel warmer literally and mentally. The other parts (25%) of the course will be less exposed will be cooler. Thus, that will help make it feel slightly cooler literally and mentally. Anywhere near asphalt or concrete will be warmer by a good deal!
Overall, plan on it feeling warm and muggy in the morning. Then, getting hot by 9am. Hydrate and fuel well days before the race! Bring the shades! Bring the carbs, sugars, fluids, etc as it will be a day in Paradise in Warren County! Have fun and enjoy the beautiful gravel roads that have gnarly climbs, downhills and creek crossings! Maybe you will be able to get the Missouri State Jersey for your category! Enjoy!
