The weather may have moved race day, but it also gave our builders one more week to make those last-minute tweaks.

A little more welding. A little more grinding. A few final adjustments. Maybe even time for one more idea that probably should have stayed an idea.

The carts are getting ready. Are you?

Join us Sunday, September 27, for the Markle Downhill on Lee Street. Registration and inspection begin at noon at the fire station, with racing expected to start around 2 PM.

With the Markle Downhill postponed to Sunday, September 27, we’ve split the finale into two videos.

We’ll see you on the hill Sunday the 27th! Registration and inspection will start around 2 p.m., with races to follow, hopefully around 3.

MARKLE DOWNHILL POSTPONED TO SEPTEMBER 27

After talking it over with the Markle Chamber and the Downhill coordinators, we've made the decision to postpone tomorrow's Markle Downhill to Sunday, September 27.

Between the flooding our community has already dealt with this week and a weather forecast that isn't looking promising, we don't want everyone waiting until the last minute to find out whether we're racing.

We know many people around Markle and the surrounding area are still dealing with flooding and cleanup. Making the decision now gives our racers, volunteers and everyone planning to come out a chance to plan accordingly.

So we're making the call now:

No racing tomorrow. We'll see you on the hill Sunday, September 27!

We'll get updated event information out as quickly as possible. Please help us spread the word.

Thank you to everyone for understanding, and we'll see you next weekend.

We know the flooding in Markle and the surrounding area has affected several homes and made many roads difficult or impossible to travel. We hope everyone is staying safe, and we appreciate the first responders, town crews, and neighbors who have been helping throughout the area.

As of now, the Markle Downhill is still scheduled for Saturday, but we are watching the weather and road conditions closely. The attached rain plan explains how we will handle light rain, wet pavement, or conditions that make the course unsafe.

We will inspect Lee Street Saturday morning and post an official update by 10:00 AM. If the road is not safe enough to race, we will delay or postpone the event.

Please continue to use caution, follow road closures, and watch the Markle Downhill page for updates.

The cat is officially coming for the Pickle! 🐱🥒

Chad Waters has transformed an ordinary orange Jeep into Team Nine Lives, a downhill cart representing Jamie’s Legacy and the cats waiting for homes.

But this isn’t just about raising awareness. Chad believes this cart has what it takes to knock off the defending champion.

Come see if the cat can catch the Pickle at The Markle Downhill!

The Markle Downhill is coming September 19, and local businesses are getting their names on the starting line.

For $100, you can sponsor a cart. We put your logo on it, provide the cart, and even provide a driver if you need one. All you have to do is claim yours and show up ready to cheer it on.
