As you can see, playing these gigs makes me look younger… like I’m 21 again… almost like I’m playing with my old band The Shapes at UOP… like it is the earliest professional drumming pic of me from 38 yrs ago… like I’m playing with me mates from college Dave Ambrose, Cameron DePalma and Vic Ferrer… ya it kinda feels like that…

I get asked all the time why I have such a positive attitude or what does it take to “arrive” in a new place of re-invention or even the act of rebuilding… especially when the lanes of life have narrowed greatly. I think we can choose to be victims (which I have done) or we can be self-empowered to not give in. The catalyst for emotional freedom is “Mindset”.

Killer gig today at The Vista Ranch in Merced. Tim and I came back from our longest break since we started The Soul Galaxy and I gotta tell you we were pretty good. My PA was pristine sounding and we played with such a cool mellow vibe… so much so some dude came up to us and asked us to play Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy by The Wiggles. I went to a Wiggles concert because my son Josh Kidd was a huge fan as a little boy and we watched countless videos by the kiddie band, so I knew the tune… kinda… so we did it and we got a standing O from the group that requested it for their kids. We then followed up the song with The Doors’ LA Woman. A combination of tunes I’m sure that has never been done before… but we did it. Thanks to The Vista for having us! The brunch was a sellout!!!
