🎂 Happy 140th Birthday to our beautiful Elgin. ❤️
On September 15, 1886, her doors opened for the very first time.
Imagine that for a moment.
For 140 years, people have walked through these doors. They’ve celebrated here. Fallen in love here. Gathered with family and friends. Said hello, said goodbye, danced, laughed, cried, rested, and made memories within these limestone walls.
And through it all, she remained.
She hasn’t always looked the way she does today. There were years when her beauty faded and years when her future wasn’t certain. But somehow, the heart of the Elgin never disappeared. It was simply waiting for someone to see it again.
Today, on my day off, I stopped by for one very important reason—to sing Happy Birthday to this grand old girl. Because if you know me at all, you know there was absolutely no chance I was letting her 140th birthday pass without making a fuss over her. ❤️
Tammy and I talk often about how incredibly special it is that, for this little chapter in her very long story, we get to be part of it.
We get to love her. We get to care for her. We get to watch new memories become part of her history.
And someday, long after our chapter has been written, we hope she is still standing proudly in the heart of Marion, welcoming people through those doors just as she did on September 15, 1886.
So today, we aren't just celebrating a beautiful historic hotel.
We're celebrating 140 years of stories. 140 years of memories. 140 years of resilience.
140 years of the Elgin. ❤️
Happy Birthday, beautiful girl.
You have never looked better. 🎂🥂
