On Saturday March 11, 2017, the Amazing Grace Race (5K Run/Walk) will take place to support a local Marietta girl battling cancer. GRACE DETLING is a vivacious 9 year old girl who loves to create masterpieces, play soccer and be with her friends. After an unlikely run in with a dog in which Grace required stitches, doctors noticed a focusing issue with one of her eyes. On July 25th, 2014, Grace was diagnosed with a slow growing, inoperable brain tumor. While undergoing a combination of pilfer chemotherapy and IV chemotherapy, Grace continues to attend school at Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, drama and church. She remains positive and upbeat through her battle with cancer and is learning to view the world without peripheral vision. Grace and her family (dad Chuck, mom Marianne and 5 year old sister Samantha are in the fight of their lives. They have moments of joy and peace mixed with pain and fear. It is the goal of this race to raise funds so the financial burden will not add to the struggles they face. We are asking local corporations/companies like yours to help make a difference in the life of this young girl. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. All commitments need to be received by February 22, 2017. No donation is too small! Mrs. Bette Cardell, MBCA's fabulous art teacher offered to have several of Grace Detling's friends gather to create beautiful clay bowls. The kids worked hard and in 2 hours completed over 30 bowls. Their wares will be sold at The Amazing Grace Race to benefit the Detling's in our hopes to continue to raise money to help offset the cost of medical expenses they have incurred since the discovery of Grace's Tumor. It was easy to see how much joy and love went into the bowls. Check out these pics of the sweet kiddos with huge hearts. They had such a fun afternoon. Mrs. Cardell, thank you for your Godly Spirit and your generosity of heart. We are all BLESSED to have you teaching our children.
