Heather Fisher was recognized with the Wade Edwards Sportsmanship Award at the 2v2 this year for her years of behind the scenes support of the event. Well done and thank you!

Congratulations to Heather Fisher! The recipient of the 2021 Wade Edwards Sportsmanship Award. Wade was a competitive sailor on the North American and World Championship stages. He also owned and managed The Boston Sailing Center in Boston where he impacted hundreds of sailors in the Boston area. Heather was selected as this years winner due to her many years of cheerfully contributing to C*C Sailing regattas, attending to all of the detailed planning, organizing and ex*****on behind the scenes to ensure that our competitors all well taken care of and well provisioned both on and off the water. Heather embodies the spirit of sportsmanship represented by the Wade Edwards Award! A true Corinthian!

What a great day of sailing!

The 2020 Hood Trophy kicked off on Saturday morning with teams heading straight to the launches and to the race course. Competitors were greeted with a fresh (and cool) northerly that reminded us that there really is wind in Marblehead.

PRO Forbes Barber got us off shortly after 10am and swiftly ran the teams through two round robins and then best of three sail offs for places 1-4 giving the teams, sailing 3up, all they could ask for in a day of team racing.

Congratulations to New York Yacht Club on their win, and our harbor neighbors Eastern and Boston on their second and third place finishes - and for their generosity in loaning their boats for the event.

The Sportsmanship award which remembers Wade Edwards will be made at an upcoming Corinthian general meeting and announced here when made.

Lastly, thanks to the Chair Jim Gabriel, Sailing Director Kevin Dooley and our RC, Umpire and waterfront teams for making it all happen. You guys rock!

Hood Trophy 2021 is on the club calendar for September 18-19, 2021. See you next year.

2v2 2020 Update:

Friends - I’m hopeful to provide an update on behalf of the Corinthian Sailing Committee on 2v2 2020.

Earlier this week, our Executive Committee approved our current plan for the 2v2 and our intent is to run the event this year. The event will look different than it has in the past with the goal of first providing a safe experience for our sailors, volunteers, staff and North Shore community and second an outstanding day of racing on the water.

The current plan includes the following:
- The 2020 event will be held on Saturday September 19, 2020. This years event will only be one day.
- The field will be limited to 5 teams. We currently have 5 entries - you know who you are - and a team on the wait list if a team chooses to not attend.
- 2020 will see us sail sonars 3 up and without kites.
- The Competitors meetings will take place via zoom the night before the event. Awards will also take place virtually.
- Our focus is on providing outstanding racing. We hope competitors understand that we cannot provide meals or an awesome party as we have in years past and time spent onshore at the club will be very limited.
- There will be no boat rotations.
- We will be adjusting the entry fee to a very very reduced rate.
- Competitors will need to comply with all regulations including those set by the State on entering Massachusetts and those of the Marblehead Harbormaster.

An updated NOR is in progress and we will share as soon as it is complete and through the review process.

While there are many things I will miss including seeing you all in person, dancing on the porch and even that Sunday morning headache, I am super excited about what we can do.

So...look for an updated NOR soon. If you have registered and no longer want to attend, please let us know...I get it that this is different this year and no hard feelings.

Lastly, please know that this is our current thinking. The world is quite fluid and we commit to providing updates if circumstances change that will cause our thinking to change.

Pics for stoke.

We’re fogged in this morning in Marblehead! It reminds us of the 2017 competition with horns at mark 1 and 3 and whistles at marks 2 and 4 to get us around the course.

Our friends from Chicago Yacht Club showed us how to team race in the fog going undefeated to win.
