⚔️ NOW SEEKING ENTERTAINMENT FOR 2027! ⚔️

The Great Northern Viking Festival is beginning to build our 2027 entertainment lineup, and we’re looking for performers, demonstrators, storytellers, musicians, educators, and wonderfully unusual humans who could bring something memorable to the weekend.

Our 2027 festival will be held June 12–13 in Mankato, Minnesota, with A Night in Valhalla taking place Saturday night for our 21+ crowd.

We’re interested in hearing from people who offer things like:

• Live music
• Viking, Norse, or medieval-inspired entertainment
• Storytelling
• Historical demonstrations
• Combat or martial demonstrations
• Strongman, circus, fire, or specialty performances
• Comedy or interactive entertainment
• Traditional crafts or skills presented in an entertaining way
• Educational talks that can keep a festival crowd engaged
• Unique roaming performers or characters
• Interactive experiences
• Something completely unexpected that you think belongs at a Viking festival

And for A Night in Valhalla, we’re especially interested in entertainment that works well with an adult evening crowd — fun, bold, interactive, musical, funny, strange, immersive, or just something people will still be talking about the next morning.

You do not necessarily have to be strictly historical. The Great Northern Viking Festival blends history, education, entertainment, mythology, fantasy, music, humor, and immersive experiences.

A little Viking weekend recap ⚔️

Saturday, we were out at Twin Cities Pagan Pride in Minneapolis with the Great Northern Viking Festival booth, meeting people, talking Vikings, and spreading the word about what we’re building in Mankato.

Then on Sunday, some of us traded the booth for garb and headed to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival to just enjoy being Vikings for the day. 🛡️

One of the things we love most about doing this festival is getting out into the larger community, meeting other wonderfully weird history-loving, Viking-loving, garb-wearing humans, and supporting the events that bring people together.

It was a very Viking weekend. ❤️⚔️

And yes… we are already talking about Great Northern Viking Festival 2027.

Sometimes the best discoveries are hiding in plain sight… even in your own backyard. 🍄🌲

Chicken of the Woods is just one example of the kind of old knowledge and useful skills that have been passed down for generations — and skills that are worth keeping alive.

That’s a big part of what we love about Great Northern Viking Festival. ⚔️

GNVF returns next June, but you don’t have to wait until then to get out and learn some old ways and lost skills.

📺 A Couple of Our Festival Leads Were on Minnesota Live

Last Friday morning, a couple of our amazing Festival Leads represented the Great Northern Viking Festival on Minnesota Live!

They did a wonderful job sharing the excitement, energy, and Viking spirit of the festival with viewers across Minnesota. I’m so grateful they stepped up, went on camera, and helped showcase what makes our festival and community so special.

⚔️ Let’s Help Send Hexxen to Norway! ⚔️

After bringing their powerful music and unforgettable presence to A Night in Valhalla, Hexxen now has the opportunity to take the stage at Midgardsblot in Norway this August.

Being invited to perform at a festival like Midgardsblot is a huge accomplishment, but getting an entire band and their equipment overseas comes with a major cost. Hexxen has created a GoFundMe to help make this opportunity possible.

Whether you donate or simply share the fundraiser, every bit of support helps Hexxen take this next step.
