Good Counsel Hill

“If a year was tucked inside of a clock, then autumn would be the magic hour.”
— Victoria Erickson

There is something special about this time of year. The landscape changes, familiar places take on new colors, and we find ourselves reflecting on the seasons that have passed.

Good Counsel Hill is a place with a rich history and many chapters still to come. As we look toward its future, we also want to celebrate the people and experiences that have shaped its story.

What is one memory that comes to mind when you think of Good Counsel Hill? Share it with us in the comments. We’d love to hear your stories.

We were honored to welcome Greater Mankato Growth members to the Good Counsel campus for Business After Hours: High Tea on the Hill! It was a wonderful evening filled with great conversations, live music from Mal Murphy, delicious food from Infinity Catering, guided tours, and door prizes generously provided by MinnWest Bank.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special. We especially appreciate our event partners— Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership, Greater Mankato Growth, Forward Minded Media, Minnwest Bank, and Oak Terrace Assisted Living —for their support in making this event possible.

It was a pleasure to share the beauty, history, and future of the Good Counsel campus, and we hope everyone left with a little of the Chapel's magic. 💙

We at Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership are excited by our new partnership with Oak Terrace Senior Communities.

“At Good Counsel, we have the opportunity to honor a legacy of care by building strong local partnerships that expand what this campus can mean for the community going forward. Oak Terrace brings experience, commitment, and a shared belief that stewardship is about more than preserving a place; it is about ensuring that place continues to serve people well for generations to come.”

A new partnership could bring assisted living and memory care services to Notre Dame Hall at Good Counsel. Story at link in comments.

🎶 Let the Pipes Sing 🎶

Join us for a special organ demonstration at Good Counsel Chapel and experience the remarkable sound of one of the most extraordinary historic organs in the region.

The historic 1877 Johnson & Son pipe organ at Good Counsel Chapel was built in Boston, rescued from demolition in 1975, and carried 1,400 miles to Mankato, where the School Sisters of Notre Dame, community volunteers lovingly cleaned, restored, and reassembled it piece by piece. In the 1990s, the organ underwent additional restoration work by Dobson Pipe Organ Builders, helping preserve its voice for future generations.

Today, with 45 stops and nearly 3,000 pipes, it remains one of the largest surviving organs ever built by Johnson & Son. Come hear the history, craftsmanship, and music of this incredible instrument for yourself.
