Fueling matters more the longer you’re on the mountain. This is a good time to start practicing what you’ll use on race day:
🔹 Gels
🔹 Hydration
🔹 Timing
🔹 Electrolytes

A big thank you to Tailwind Nutrition for supporting runners with on-course hydration. If you plan to use Tailwind on race day, start working it into your longer training efforts now so your body knows what to expect.

What works in training usually works better on race day.

A huge thank you to Jimmy John's for helping us take care of our mountain volunteers this year!

These volunteer shifts are no small thing. Many of our mountain crews are on a shuttle before 5 a.m., spending long hours on the mountain, with some even camping overnight to make sure runners are supported where they need it most.

This year, Jimmy John’s on Fillmore is helping provide sandwiches for those long shifts, and that support means a lot to us.

To our mountain volunteers: thank you for giving your time, energy, and full day to this race. And to Jimmy John’s: thank you for helping us make sure they’re fed while they do it!

Training for teaches you a lot about yourself before race day ever arrives.

What’s one thing training for this race has already reminded you? Maybe it’s something simple, like finding a rhythm, getting out the door when you don’t feel like it, or realizing training is better with other people.

As training ramps up, recovery becomes part of the plan — not something you only think about when you’re already tired.

Long climbs, downhill miles, and back-to-back training days can add up quickly. Taking care of your body now can help you stay consistent later in the season.

Our partners at Sundog Running know how important it is for runners to keep moving well through the full training cycle.

What’s one recovery habit you’re trying to stay consistent with right now?

There’s usually a point in training where the race stops feeling far away. The calendar starts filling in. The long runs get planned. The elevation starts to matter more.

If the or is part of your year, registration is open, and the field is taking shape.

Not every training week is going to feel strong. Some weeks are consistent. Some get interrupted. Some runs feel great, and others remind you there’s still work to do.

The goal right now isn’t perfection. It’s building habits you can keep coming back to even when life, weather, or motivation gets in the way.

What helps you stay consistent when training gets busy?

Some are squeezing miles in before work, after school drop-off, between travel, or whenever life gives you a window.

That’s one of the best parts of this community — everyone is working toward the mountain in their own way, and we love seeing it!

So let’s do a weekend training roll call. Where did you get your miles in this weekend?

Drop a photo, your route, your elevation gain, your summit, your neighborhood loop, your Strava map, or just the number of miles you got in. We want to see what training looks like right now.
