🔸6/7/26 STORM SHELTER OPEN🔸
The MHA EOC Storm Shelter will be open this evening from 6:30p-10:30p for anyone who may need it.
We are actively monitoring the wx forecast and will be available longer if needed.
📍Location: 8880 Hwy 23B New Town, ND (located 1 mile north of New Town on Hwy 1804 or across from the north United Quality.)
🧑🧑🧒🧒If you are bringing children, please bring their favorite blankets and some toys to keep them comfortable while they wait.
🦮Pets are welcome, but they must be on a leash or in a carrier.
♿️Please keep the parking spaces directly in front of the main entrance open for the Elderly and those who need them.
➡️🚪Please enter thru the main lobby doors (shown below) on the south side of the building. All other entrances are FOB access only and are locked.
Be aware that the main entrance has fema storm shelter spec-designed doors, so they are alittle heavier than normal doors.

📻📺Please be aware of changing weather conditions by monitoring local weather and news stations like KMHA 91.3 FM, NOAA WX Radios, and utilizing weather mobile apps.
⛈️Damaging winds of 70+ mph and large hail are the main threats for this evening, but the possibility of a tornado in our area can’t be ruled out.
Make sure you take the time now to secure any outdoor belongings, consider postponing any travel late this evening with a high profile vehicle or attachments, bring your pets inside, and if you are recreating outdoors like camping or boating, you are encouraged to pack up early to avoid property damage and potential injuries due to the high winds expected.
⚡️Please also be prepared for intermittent power outages.

Please assist the NWS if you are safely able to do so. SKYWARN spotter reports provide vital "ground truth" to the NWS. They act as their eyes and ears in the field. Spotter reports help our meteorologists issue timely, accurate, and detailed warnings by confirming hazardous weather detected by NWS radar.
Spotters also provide critical verification information that helps improve future warning services. SKYWARN Spotters serve their local communities by acting as a vital source of information when dangerous storms approach.

⛈️Segment Shelter Coordinators were notified by our Mass Care Specialist to maintain situational awareness on the severe weather conditions expected for the evening hours and will be on standby to open their shelters. (See comments section for Flyer of Shelter Locations)
