Thanks to Jake Ellis for sharing his story about what the White Pine Stampede means to him, as a kid from Mancelona!

This morning would be the 50th edition of the White Pine Stampede, one of the oldest cross country ski marathons in North America. For decades the race has started in my home town of Mancelona, MI. It is a true cross country race because you actually ski, well, cross country.

Our race is unique because it runs through mostly private property, meaning skiers only get to experience beauty like this one day a year!

I didn’t personally have time to take pictures today as I was zipping from place to place, so I’m stealing some pictures from one of our Aid stations.
