Exploring American Roots Music
Presented by the Four Lakes Traditional Music Collective, the Sugar Maple Music Festival is a two-day outdoor festival in Madison that celebrates American roots music and dance through performances, educational workshops, and interactive jam sessions. COVID-19 Update:
The Sugar Maple Music Festival board is committed to creating a safe environment for our artists,
volunteers and attendees. We are monitoring local Health Department orders and CDC guidelines closely and will set festival rules around masks and social distancing accordingly. We will keep you updated as we get more information.) We encourage everyone planning to attend the Sugar Maple Music Festival to get vaccinated as vaccines are the best way to create a safe space for all. Thank you for your patience as we have worked our way through this pandemic. We can't wait to see you again! Performances, workshops, and jams are held concurrently at three stages. Formal performances take place on the main stage. Artists hold educational workshops and jams in a more intimate setting on the Roots and Reasons stage. This stage provides an unique opportunity for festival attendees to interact with the artists through interviews, discussions, workshops, demonstrations, and interactive jam sessions. Interviews with performers allow festival attendees to learn about the history, culture, and techniques of the traditional arts. Workshops, demonstrations, and jam sessions provide Dane County residents an opportunity to integrate the knowledge and skills of these artists into to our own community.
