This Saturday night, Nashville artist Mark Stuart returns to our stage at The BrickHouse, here in Madison.

A former member of Steve Earle & The Dukes, Mark has also performed and toured extensively with his partner and wife, the talented Stacey Earle. Together, they have released several albums over three decades. Mark has also toured with Freddy Fender, Steve Earle, Joan Baez, and Steve Forbert who have employed him for his outstanding musicianship. He’s performed at the Cambridge Folk Festival, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, MTV, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, Merlefest, and countless small festivals and theaters. Stuart’s storytelling, guitar playing, vocals, and songs have caught the attention of music lovers across the country and beyond.

We really enjoyed Mark’s session last time, so don’t miss out on another great “listening room” session at The BrickHouse

“The odd-father of Midwest outsider music, a Midwest legend” - from a commenter on P. Skunk.

Returning to The BrickHouse this October for our Halloween party, "P. Skunk and the Authors of Energy" is an independent rock band once called "wildly adventurous" by St. Paul music critic Jim Walsh. Based in Brookings, South Dakota, P. Skunk has been a dedicated stalwart and voice in the Upper Midwest music scene for more than 30 years while performing on stages like the legendary Pomp Room in Sioux Falls, along with 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis and The Turf Club in St. Paul. The group blends richly poetic and often unconventional lyrics with elements of psychedelic rock, blues-infused guitar, avant-garde rock, space rock, and pop, drawing influences from artists such as Bob Dylan, early Pink Floyd, Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground - alongside the obvious contemporary comparisons to The Flaming Lips, early Wilco, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Guided by Voices, and Built to Spill. We could go on, but whatever you call it - P. Skunk delivers an electric live performance that delivers each and every night.

P. Skunk and the Authors of Energy are:

Erik Ritter – vocals/lyrics
Brian Stemwedel – guitar
Mark Stemwedel – bass
Daryn Bertelson – drums

South Dakota has had relatively few rock bands that have sustained a such a long and impactful presence in our scene while producing provoking original material, one with a deep catalog and a reputation for crafted lyricism, experimental sound, and genre-crossing performances. P. Skunk has gifted us that.
