"It was on May 27. 1937, that articles of the 21-A association were adopted and witnessed by the following men from all sections of the county: H. W. Knowles. A. C. Shaw. O. B. Price. L, A. Vignolo, H. F. Brown, H. A. Philp, W. F. Footman. Jack Holliday. Archie J. Shaw, G. D. Winder. J. O. King. C. B. Swift. R. Mattrocce. V. A. Martinazzi. R. M. Daulton, C. W. Clawson. D. C. Lesan, J. G. Davis. M. Michaelson and Roy Schnauer. Also Glen H. Woner. Ray A March, L. F. Hillhouse. F. Junznsoy, A. Ergatanajas, J. S. Bondesen. R F. Hudson. J. C. Arnoto. X. B Cluslel. D R. Hanhart. T. H. Rue. H G. Jobe. J. E. Barnett. Carl Gaumnitz. Milo Hollister. W. E. Bollinger. H. V. Eastman. J. F. Buriher, A. M. Stitt.’ Ed Math. W. H Kelly, Hugh G. Rodgers. W. H. Ryan. Charles Mosteller. G. V. Planning sessions continued and on the night of Aug. 17, 1937, the first board of directors was appointed at a meeting in the basement of the postoffice. Sherwood Green was named president: J. L. Davis, vice president; and Frank H. Davis, secretary-manager. Other first directors included A. C. Shaw of Raymond: H. V. Eastman, Chowchilla; L. F. Hillhouse, Chowchilla; Jess Bigelow. O’Neals; and Max Arnold and John B. Gordon of Madera. 'It was largely through the efforts of Frank H. Davis, working with his friend Senator Andrew Schottky of Merced, that the 1937 legislature created Madera County as a new fair district, separating it from the Fresno district."
Our formal name is the 21A District Agricultural Association but you call us Madera Fair ❤️
