Bon Débarras is a trio consisting of Dominic Desrochers, Jean-François Dumas, and Véronique Plasse. It is known for lively renditions of traditional songs and new creations on joyful airs involving the fiddle, banjo, and harmonica. An award-winning band, Bon Débarras has been performing since 2006.
The band’s visit to our region is sponsored by the Maine Acadian Heritage Council, an advocacy group representing the unique culture of the entire St. John Valley.
This will not be Bon Débarras’s first time in the St. John Valley. The band performed in schools across the region several years ago. This year, they will again perform and provide cultural education for K-12 students in Madawaska and Van Buren (November 3), St. Agatha (November 4), and Fort Kent (November 5). Youths’ enthusiasm for the performances in 2023 led the Heritage Council to organize this concert for a wider public.
“Bon Débarras’s concerts are always toe-tapping fun,” says Patrick Lacroix, president of the Maine Acadian Heritage Council. “We will get to enjoy the ambience of a kitchen party as a community.”
This is a non-ticketed event and seating will be available on a first come, first served basis. The Heritage Council recommends donations of $10 per adult and $5 per K-12 student or child. Proceeds will serve to support local cultural organizations and future programming.
