Meet the Committee: José Pino! 🇨🇴

José is from Colombia, and one of his favorite dishes is smoked salmon salad. When it comes to music, you can catch him listening to one of his favorites, “Vivir Mi Vida.” 🎶

José joined the Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival Committee because he sees the festival as an opportunity to make an impact both in and outside the classroom.

“I joined the committee because it is a great form of service-learning for my students and an excellent way to raise awareness about the impact and influence of Hispanic culture in the United States.”

Through the festival, José is helping the next generation connect service, culture, and community while celebrating the many contributions of the Hispanic community. ❤️

José es de Colombia, y uno de sus platos favoritos es la ensalada de salmón ahumado. Y cuando se trata de música, una de sus canciones favoritas es “Vivir Mi Vida.” 🎶

José se unió al Comité del Festival Hispano de Macon-Bibb porque ve el festival como una oportunidad para generar un impacto tanto dentro como fuera del salón de clases.

“Me uní al comité porque es una excelente forma de aprendizaje-servicio para mis estudiantes y una gran oportunidad para dar a conocer el impacto y la influencia de la cultura hispana en los Estados Unidos.”

A través del festival, José ayuda a las nuevas generaciones a conectar el servicio, la cultura y la comunidad, mientras celebramos las muchas contribuciones de nuestra comunidad hispana. ❤️

Meet the Committee: Ana Hernandez! 🇩🇴

Ana is from the Dominican Republic, and when it comes to favorite foods, she’s choosing tostones con queso frito or mofongo de camarones! 😋

Ana is also one of the founding members of the Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival Committee and has been part of this journey since the beginning. ❤️

“I joined the committee because I wanted to help create a space where our Hispanic and Latino community could celebrate our culture, traditions, and contributions while bringing the broader community together.

Being part of this festival allows me to give back to my community, celebrate my heritage, and help make sure our voices, stories, and cultures are represented and valued in Macon-Bibb.”

We’re so grateful to have Ana helping us build a festival centered around culture, connection, and belonging. 🌎❤️
