I smiled today as I gathered these golf balls from a deck we are removing - it reminded me of the history of the land and the looks I get when I share the starting point of our facility. Golf course to agriculture and event venue?! We must be crazy. Just a few short years ago, the Kent County Youth Agricultural Association didn’t have state of the art buildings or a fairground facility. Just open space, big ideas, and a community willing to believe in something more.
From those humble beginnings on the old golf course, something incredible grew. Step by step, season by season, that vision transformed into The Grand Agricultural Center and The Fairway we know today - a place filled with life, learning, laughter, and tradition.
Every barn built, every event hosted, every young person given a chance to learn and grow - it all traces back to those early days. It’s a reminder that even the smallest starting point can lead to something truly meaningful when people come together with purpose.
Today, as I looked across the grounds, it’s hard not to feel a sense of pride. Not just in how far we’ve come, but in the generations who made it possible and those who will carry it forward.
From a golf course to a cornerstone of our community… the journey is as inspiring as the destination.
