Congrats to Madeline Keith of Groton, a 2026 graduate of Groton-Dunstable Regional High School, for receiving this year's Jeanne Mitchell Memorial Scholarship. This accomplished student was awarded $1,000 toward her college education, thanks to donors to the scholarship fund. Madeline, an outstanding student who is starting her freshman year at the University of Connecticut, is pursuing a degree in Business and plans to attend law school.
In her scholarship application, she stated, “Continuing my education will give me the opportunity to grow both professionally and academically, while preparing me for a career where I can support and stand up for others. I am committed to working hard, taking advantage of new opportunities, and using my education to create a positive impact in the future.”
Madeline was a standout student and athlete at GDRHS, including as Lacrosse captain, Flag Football founder and captain, varsity soccer player and was a member of the Student Activities Council and the Environmental and Spanish clubs. She was consistently on the Honor Roll and volunteered her time at several community organizations while also working part-time.
Jeanne Mitchell Memorial Scholarships are awarded annually to deserving graduating seniors at GDRHS who are pursuing a four-year college degree. Since there is no longer the golf tournament or any other fundraisers, the fund relies solely on individual contributions to award the scholarships that honor the memory of a much-loved member of the community who has been gone for eight years but not forgotten.
There have been 10 scholarships awarded, totaling $19,000, since 2020. Thank you to all the donors over the years who have helped young people pursue their dreams while honoring the memory of a devoted educator, mother, wife, grandmother and friend.
