Thank you for celebrating the 6th annual Trek the Thompson with us! 🌊

We loved seeing so many families, partners, volunteers, and community members come together to discover, explore, and connect with the Big Thompson River this past Sunday.

This year’s event featured hands-on stations about water conservation, wildlife, healthy forests, river restoration, wildfire and flood recovery, agriculture, recreation, and more — all alongside the Loveland Farmers Market.

A huge thank you to our event sponsors the City of Loveland and Northern Water, volunteers, station leads, planning partners, and everyone who stopped by to make Trek the Thompson such a fun morning on the Big T!

Trek the Thompson is almost here! 🌊

Join us on Sunday, July 12, from 9 AM–1 PM at Fairgrounds Park and the Loveland Farmers Market for a free, family-friendly celebration of the Big Thompson River.

Explore hands-on activities, meet local organizations, learn about the watershed, and enjoy a morning at the Farmers Market.

Want an earlier start? Sign up for our free guided Birding Trek from 8:00–9:30 AM before the main event begins to see birds of the Big T and walk along the river 🦅🦉

Trek the Thompson is back!

Join Big Thompson Watershed Coalition for a free, family-friendly celebration to discover, explore, and connect with the Big Thompson River!

This year’s event will feature hands-on activities, educational stations, and opportunities to learn about the river, local wildlife, water quality, wildfire resilience, native plants, water efficiency, river restoration, and the many ways our watershed supports our community.

We’re excited to bring together local partners and participating organizations, including the City of Loveland, Northern Water, Rocky Mountain Flycasters, Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, The Master Gardeners, Ducks Unlimited, Big Thompson Watershed Coalition, and more.

Free guided treks will be available, with sign-ups opening soon!
