Happy Balls! Handmade Kentucky Bourbon Candy

The ultimate handmade bourbon buttercream candy. We only use Knob Creek 9-year-old single barrel bourbon and Guittard dipping chocolate.

A luscious handmade Bourbon butter cream ball studded with our "drunken" bourbon-soaked pecans is then hand-dipped in semi-sweet chocolate. It takes 3 aging/curing processes (a total of 60 hours) to make a Happy Ball. Happy Balls have found their way to Denmark, China, Germany, France, Lebanon, Scotland, England and Israel.

We've all been obsessed with Artemis II, right? You know we have been here at Happy Balls! Central Command.
The takeoff, the moon flyby, the naming of newly spotted craters, the audacity of humans to blast off into Space! And splash back down to Earth! It's all so exciting!

And it's a fun reminder of the time we were able to celebrate sending some Happy Balls! to the International Space Station when we had a friend living up there for 9 months. It was just a sweet treat (two boxes of 4-packs) enclosed in his moral shipment sent by his wife on the unmanned resupply, but we Happy-ly claim our spot as the Unofficial Bourbon Ball of the ISS. We put a little taste of Kentucky up there. And then we commemorated it with this shirt. Of course.

Breaking into a Dream D**g this first day of April.
Isn't this the perfect way to celebrate such a wonderful month ahead?

We're looking forward to Easter, Earth Day, Thunder Over Louisville and the whole Kentucky Derby Festival leading up to the Kentucky Derby in May. So lots of days to celebrate with a little splash of bourbon and chocolate.

It's a gloomy March day here in Louisville and looking like a bit of a grey week ahead. Where is that spring-like weather again? Such a tease!

Throwback Thursday!

This is us hand dipping with toothpicks. One at a time. Doing things the hard way by scooping the buttercream with a cookie scooper, rolling by hand, dipping and then placing on finger-made chocolate "footprints" on the cooling table. It was a lot. We had such small batch orders that it was doable then, but painful in the shoulder and wrist and it really limited the time we had to grow. We were so grateful for the slowly growing momentum of people learning of and then loving our Balls! to the point we needed to fill increasing sizes of orders, both wholesale and our loyal online customers. But how?

We have been so fortunate to see our business grow and grow to the point that we started a new buttercream molding process and HAD to buy the chocolate enrober (magical chocolate waterfall)...we're a bit past the toothpick era. But it's still just the two of us working daily in the candy kitchen together, having dance parties, listening to true crime podcasts and packing each and every order.

Thank you this TBT for giving us a reason to work together, to grow and to still deliver the biggest and best bourbon balls on the market to you!!!
