More blessings!
As part of our celebration, it’s important to us to not only touch on historical figures and happenings, but to also place the spotlight on individuals within our community, their excellence, and impact on our city. ✨🖤 Meet, SAMOSA. Most of you may know her as Dj samosa [ on Instagram], but this musical pro has currently showcased her artistic side through her display at Revelry Boutique Gallery.
⠀
Her exhibition, known as The SAMOSA Experience, is full of vibrant, new paintings that she created during the pandemic as a means of coping with her usual DJ gigs being cancelled, along with the uncertainty of the future. Because of ongoing restrictions, SAMOSA couldn’t spin as usual, so she put all her energy into creating art, which took her back to her childhood memories of painting while listening to her favorite music. 🎧🎨 She states, “It definitely helped me get through 2020.” ⠀
⠀
She draws inspiration from artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring, using bright colors, graphic patterns and street art qualities to capture viewers’ attention – just as a DJ would command the attention of an audience. What’s also unique about her work, is that she listens to music, and transpires the tempos and beats she hears to the canvas… an amazing concept that really captivated us when we visited. ⠀
⠀
The SAMOSA experience is currently at Revelry through the month of February! We certainly encourage the community to visit and see the work of this amazing, multi-faceted artist for yourself AND learn more about her many talents!
