Real talk for a moment:
At Hermitage Farm XC Classic, Run for the Gold, and again today at Sorta Mountain Stage Race I have had a similar conversation. For some, a race is just an event, something they sign up for or participate in for the cause or an activity with a friend or family member. For a large portion of participants it is so much more. It is the fulfillment of months or years of training or recovery, memorial or tribute to a lost loved one, proving to themselves that they can overcome a hard thing. There are emotions, feelings, energy, tears, laughter, and so much going on that no one else may know anything about.

Having the pleasure to be the timer and/or race director, who is happy to talk with participants any time I can, means I have the unique opportunity to hear some of these stories. Other times getting to share in hugs, fist bumps, high fives, tears, and more. This is so impactful. I carry those moments with me throughout the week and sometimes much longer.

For those unaware, we honestly don't make much from all of the races we work. We have day jobs in addition to the 40 to 60 hours a week we pour into races. It is hard honest work. Would I love to do it full time? Of course, but the reality is we want to do right by our community and not burden the community with more overpriced races. A majority of the races we work are charity events. Meaning if we charge more, that equals less funds to the cause we are trying to help. We pay ourselves for the time, our business to maintain equipment, taxes, insurance, travel, all the things to operate a business on the up and up.

Thank you for sharing! Thank you for joining us! Thank you for participating! Thank you for your support! You all are amazing and wonderful!

Biggie Smalls finally had a moment today for a quick photo shoot shirt and finisher award reveal for The Lookout coming Sept. 20th to Iroquois Park. A new road race brought to you by Bigfoot Timing and we hope you will join us.

Two distances to choose from: 7 or 3.4 miles. The 7 mile course offers some beautiful views from the top of the park while the 3.4 mile course rolls around the base of the park.

The 2026 Central Kentucky Run for the Gold Cross Country meet checked off all of the boxes on the bingo card. The morning brought great racing conditions for the Elementary races.

The heat of the day pushed back the Middle School races with an hour heat delay. Combining races to maintain schedule while storms brewed in the distance. Officials called the JV boys race due to lightning in the area, resulting in continued delays. After an hour of lightning strikes, and impromptu dance party under the big pavilion, the rains hit hard, saturating the course and equipment. By 10 PM with standing water on the course and continued lightning in the area the meet had to be called.

Never a desired outcome after a long awaited day of heat and racing, but mother nature was not going to give us a break. We hope everyone who was able to race had a great run and those who unfortunately didn't get to race will have an awesome race just around the corner.

Thanks for being awesome and joining us for the Central Kentucky Run for the Gold!

Blackacre Barnstormer! WooHoo!
A warm morning but the beauty of Blackacre never fails. Thank you all so much for coming out and supporting Blackacre. As I said this morning, we truly love this property and supporting their mission. Your participation and donations help us not only host this event, but make a donation to further their efforts.

As every one of you who joined us this morning knows, volunteers make the magic happen for these events. We brought our entire family, plus we had some amazing Louisville Trail Nuts volunteering. Thank you to Amanda, Marcie and Catherine for being course marshalls, Karin and Armin for sweeping, Atticus at Check in, Isaac as photographer, and Gemma timing. Kim & I are always so grateful for our volunteers as we often are running around like we have lost our minds.

Photos and Results are on the RunSignUp page. I may have a few more photos to upload as I process things.
Finish Line video feed will be on our YouTube channel by tomorrow. Thank you all so much for being such an awesome community!

Quick shout out to Peak Freak Designs for being out there with us. They are a great supporter of Bigfoot Timing and Blackacre. We love having Cindy set up at our events whenever she is able.

Oh and if you had one of the kiddos who joined us Saturday for the Hermitage Farm XC Classic. Thank you! 2,151 athletes spread across 12 races. It was a jammed packed weekend, but we do this for you. We love you all and create all of the amazing events to benefit both the participants and the community.

From one farm to another today. We started the morning off at 6 AM at Hermitage Farm XC Classic. We had 2,300 athletes from 66 teams registered. Warm but great day!

To Blackacre State Nature Preserve chillin with the goats this afternoon as we marked the course for the Blackacre Barnstormer in the morning.

It has been a busy week but you all are worth it! Thank you!
