A Community Acupuncture Experience with Live Plant Biofeedback Music, brought to you by Andrew Barretto, L.Ac, DATM

Throughout the event, we’ll listen as the subtle electrical activity of a living plant shapes an evolving musical landscape inspired by the Five Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Held just two days before the Autumn Equinox, this gathering takes place at a turning point in Nature. In Taoism, Autumn is when Yin begins to overtake Yang and the world moves toward stillness, turning inward, and letting go.

In Chinese Medicine, Autumn belongs to the Metal Element and is associated with the Lungs, breath, grief, and our capacity to release.

Receive a 30-minute community acupuncture treatment as the music unfolds around you. Slow down, turn inward, and tune in to the rhythms of the natural world.

No previous experience with acupuncture or meditation is necessary.

Time: 2:00–4:00 PM (30-minute treatments with reserved arrival times)

Sliding Scale: $35–55
Community — $35
Sustaining — $45
Supporting — $55

Your generosity at the Sustaining and Supporting levels helps make this experience accessible to others in our community.

Who is it for?
Neurodivergent-identifying (or curious!) Creatives/Artists, Ages 21+
No diagnosis or creative career necessary!
(California Residents Only)

Description:
Do you ever look at other creatives and wonder, “Why is it so easy for them?...I must not be trying hard enough…not be good-enough…why can’t I just be more disciplined?...”

Existing as ourselves in a system that prioritises conformity is an act of creative resistance. Facilitated by a creative, neurodivergent, q***r, BIPOC, expressive arts therapist, this group recognizes and welcomes all of who you are. Together we may curiously explore the unique strengths, challenges, and in-betweens of living at the intersections of capitalism, neurotypical culture, and other interlocking systems of oppression while fostering a supportive community of folks who simply get it.

Blending neuro-affirming, liberation-oriented therapy with preserved time to create, connect, express, plan, dream, or rest, this weekly group aims to serve as a nourishing, co-created community space where neurodivergent-identifying (or curious!) folks may pause and be as we are before the world can demand anything else of us.

Who is it for?
BIPOC Women & Gender-Expansive Folks, Ages 21+

Description:
This therapy group aims to foster resilience for BIPOC women and gender expansive folks through the modality of written and spoken-word poetry. It is a  process-oriented expressive arts group and a co-created space where community is collectively cultivated by empowering folks with the tools and platform to write and speak out their stories:

community is medicine
poetry is the vessel

through which
we find words
for the things
we were taught not to say

as BIPOC individuals
our existence
is resistance
and this group offers rest

fostering of resilience
permission to write
without expectation
a reclamation

of our voices
and empowerment
to tell our stories
the ways they deserve to be told

no experience necessary
together we move the pen

Parents & Caregivers of Trans & Nonbinary Youth: Support Group

Room to talk about how much you love your kid, the fear you carry for them, people in your life who still don’t get it, and whatever you’re still working out for yourself.

The group will be guided, but not scripted. I’ll bring a focus each week, with plenty of room for people to share what’s happening in their families and support one another. We’ll talk about things like identity and language, what life is like for your kid, extended family, your own reactions, and finding your way back when you get something wrong—all with care and respect for trans and nonbinary young people at the center.

Tuesdays, 6:30–8:00 PM

September 22–November 17, 2026; no meeting November 3
Eight-session commitment
In person in Highland Park; exact location provided upon enrollment
$40 per session; sliding-scale rates available
