Performance in Mid-June

See second poster for self tape information.

Description
AUDITIONS for a new ensemble dance-theatre performance rooted in butoh (舞踏) via a butoh fundamentals workshop. No prior butoh experience necessary to attend, although some level of research and familiarity with the form is strongly encouraged. Experienced butoh dancers are certainly welcome and encouraged to audition.

This is an immersive and intensive practice. Come open-minded and prepared to move.

Reach out to Director/Choreographer Corin Wiggins with any questions (mailto:[email protected] / )

Corin Wiggins Butoh (舞踏) Bio
Among other theatrical disciplines, Corin Wiggins (they/he/she) is a professional butoh dancer and choreographer. They are a principal dancer in Iván-Daniel Espinosa & Company, an internationally touring butoh performance ensemble. They work closely with both Iván and his butoh mentor Joan Laage, herself a student of Yoko Ashikawa. Corin has trained butoh with many of the surviving company members of butoh’s chief architects Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno, including Saga Kobayashi, Hiroko Tamano, Ken Mai, and Dairakudakan Ensemble Member Yuko Kobayashi.

Corin holds a B.F.A. in Physical Theatre via a joint program between Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina and the Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy. Both their devised ensemble work and solo work is rooted in butoh and they are credited as having performed the first professional butoh performance in South Carolina history, their home state. Corin will be performing butoh extensively in 2026, including a three city tour of Japan in the latter half of the year. They have recently taken up residence in Los Angeles.
